Is Ashton Kutcher Headed to Broadway in LaBute's Fat Pig?
Ashton Kutcher, the screen actor best known for his eight-year stint as Michael Kelso on TV's "That '70s Show," may be heading to Broadway later this season.
The New York Post reports that Kutcher is "considering an offer" to star in the Broadway bow of Neil LaBute's Fat Pig. MCC Theater presented that play at Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre in 2004. The Off-Broadway cast featured Jeremy Piven, Keri Russell, Andrew McCarthy and Ashlie Atkinson; Jo Bonney directed.
LaBute, who directed the show's London's incarnation, will reportedly direct the Broadway production as well.
No theatre or timetable has been announced.
Fat Pig, according to London press notes, "revolves around Tom, who when he first meets Helen finds there is an instant connection - but it's not exactly love at first sight... Helen is a bright, funny, sexy young woman who happens to be plus-sized - and then some - and it's only so long before the insults start to fly from Tom's shallow yet shockingly funny office buddies." The Post says Kutcher would play the role of Tom.
