- The City Center Encores! Summer Stars production of The Wiz begins performances June 12 at the famed New York venue. It plays City Center through July 5.
- Stephen Karam's Off-Broadway comedy Speech & Debate begins performances at Hartford TheaterWorks June 12. The high school-set play officially opens June 19 and will run through July 26.
- Jaradoa Theater presents the new musical Shafrika, The White Girl June 12-28 at Off-Broadway's The Vineyard. Written by and starring Anika Larsen (Xanadu, Avenue Q).
- Theater Alliance's final production of the 2008-09 season in Washington, DC, is Adam Bock's Five Flights, the regionally popular tale of a family letting go of the past, June 12-28.
- Michael Therriault and Michael Boatman are Irving Berlin and Scott Joplin, respectively, starting June 12 in the New York City debut of The Tin Pan Alley Rag, Mark Saltzman's musical play about the masters of early 20th-century music. Performances for the limited run of Tin Pan Alley Rag play to Sept. 6. Opening is July 14.
- The York Theatre Company's sold-out production of High Spirits, the second of three spring 2009 Musicals in Mufti staged concert presentations, begins performances June 12. The weekend of concerts runs through June 14.
- The Classical Theatre of Harlem's Archbishop Supreme Tartuffe, starring Tony nominee André De Shields, begins performances Off-Broadway June 12.
