Tony Award-nominated actress Emily Skinner, who opened the national tour of the Tony-winning musical Billy Elliot, will repeat her performance as Mrs. Wilkinson for Broadway audiences beginning Oct. 2 at the Imperial Theatre.
Skinner, who originated the role of the weary but encouraging dance instructor in Chicago last April, will succeed Kate Hennig in the Broadway production. Hennig will play her final performance Oct. 1 in order to star in the Toronto engagement of Billy Elliot, which will begin Jan. 28, 2011.
Skinner earned a Tony Award nomination (along with Next to Normal Tony winner Alice Ripley) for their starring roles as the Hilton twins in Side Show. She has also appeared on Brodway in Jekyll & Hyde, James Joyce's The Dead, The Full Monty and Dinner at Eight. She appeared in the City Center's Encores productions of No Strings, Pardon My English, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and Broadway Bash.
