"Let's Be Common" from The Love Parade (1929)
After I saw this movie I went back and watched this number like 20+ times. So glad someone uploaded it to YouTube. Now, I wish someone would load the "The Queen Is Always Right" number from the same film. I watched that number like 30+ times. Lillian Roth is just too adorable in these two numbers. I was particularly struck by a certain look she gives straight to the camera at the end of "The Queen Is Always Right" that I had to zoom in on her with my DVD player and watched it on repeat. Seriously, go add The Love Parade to your Netflix Queue. Sadly the two leads, Maurice Chevalier and Jeanette MacDonald are not as interesting as the two supporting players, Lillian Roth and Lupino Lane, as can be seen in the clip below. But these two numbers are reason enough to see this early musical from Ernst Lubitsch.
