Training at the bakery took longer than expected. I was there by 3:00 as they requested, but the owners (Sue and Dave) weren't there. Dave's sister, Leslie was there and greeted us and talked to us a bit while we waited for Sue and Dave. They were late because they were caught in a long line at Costco. XD We got our uniforms, too. "Small" is ... quite large. It's ridiculous. lol But it might shrink in the wash, we'll see.
We learned how to slice deli and how things work. We met the "deli expert" who taught Sue and Dave everything they needed to know about fine deli and stuff like that. He is such a sweet old Italian man. Thick accent, fedora, salt and pepper hair. He introduced himself as "Uncle Victor." How cute is that? XD He said that we all look like very nice people and that is what is most important when running a place like this. He would rather have genuinely kind people behind the counter instead of some genius because kindness goes a long way. He told us to treat the customers like they're friends coming into your home.
At the end of training, we all got to sample the Seattle's Best coffee (Javanilla flavour), and we got to know each other a little better. They asked us where we're from. They got the whole story of my life. Dave thinks it's amazing how I've lived in so many places and yet I'm still so young. Everyone thinks I move a lot because of my parents' job, or that I'm an army brat. We just ... move. lol
