Orientation at the bakery was moved from today to yesterday. Sue (one of the owners) called me at 6:30 asking if I would be there. I told her that she told me Tuesday and Wednesday. She said she must have made a mistake and she appologized and asked if I can come in Thursday instead, but I told her I can come now. So I changed into a more presentable shirt, and ran for it.
She pretty much told us about the products they sell, which are very very very healthy. Everything is freshly baked in the back. Not the "freshly baked and frozen for 3 weeks" kind of baked, but freshly baked. They sell packaged bread too. At thee end of the day, we're allowed to help ourselves to some fresh bread because they can't sell it the next day.
They're getting coffee that's huge in the west, but nobody knows about it here on the east side. It's called Seattle's Best. Proof of its hugeness in the west is that Antonia reminded me of the name after I forgot. XD We're going to sell fancy-shmancy mochaccino stuff. I have to learn how to make them all.
The uniform isn't ridiculous. Shirt, hat and apron all with the logo, and black pants. It will all be black and white.
I met the pastry chef, Claudia. She's really really sweet (no pun intended XD). She's some sort of European, but I couldn't place the accent. There are 2 other chefs, but I haven't met them yet. I know one of them is Greg.
Sue mentioned that I used to work at Price Chopper. There's this girl who also used to work there.
"You used to work at Price Chopper? Why'd you quit?"
"Pay sucked."
"Do you know Liz?"
"Yeah"
"She's a bitch. Do you know Alex?"
"Nineteen year old with an accent? Yeah"
"I used to date him. He's dating Liz now."
"O..okay"
I don't care about Price Chopper drama. I've known her for 2 hours, and already, I can see why Alex left her.
So Thursday, I go back in for training. We learn to cut the bread and deli, and work the registers, get our uniforms, etc.
