Ram, the insanely annoying cube-mate of mine down at Comcast got fired.
After less than 3 months of complete and total incompetence, my Director Tina has decided not to renew his contract. I don't even know how he got fired in the first place.
This all happened Thursday. I got an IM from my mentor, also named Brian (we shall refer to him as Brian F.), asking me to get him a document for a certain project that Ram was working on. The conversation went something like this:
Brian F.: "Can you get me the Detailed Design Document for the CAS Project?"
Me: "Did you mean to IM Ram?"
Brian F.: "Nope."
Me: "...?"
Brian F.: "Get it from Ritu (another employee)."
Me: "...?"
Brian F.: "Tina will tell you."
Then I get an IM from Tina, asking me to call her from somewhere other than my desk. So, I get told I'm going from managing 1 project to managing 1 and providing support on 4 others (all Ram's projects). Apparently his contract was up July 6th, and based on performance she was going to let him go at the end of it.
Lindsay and I subsequently went to dinner to celebrate. I felt bad, but seriously, this was the most annoying person on the planet.
Somehow, Ram found out and didn't take it so well. He called around to some people trying to find out why and such. He didn't show up for work on Friday, and called to ask if I could let him in on Monday to get his stuff. Well, this isn't proper protocol, and prompted an "URGENT: Ram Agrawal" email to be circulated, warning people not to let Ram in the building. Based on this, his contract was cut immediately.
Life is good again.
