He wasn't participating. If he had a say, this wouldn't have been happening. The bar was popular enough. But, this had been on the calendar since before Buzz senior had kicked the bucket. So, they were still going through with it. Extended happy hour, if you showed up in horns or a halo, further discount. The younger Buzz had even made whatever a playlist was on his iPod. Alistair missed the jukebox but it still hadn't been fixed. Around the beginning of happy hour, people started coming in. Alistair left most alone, preferring to stick to his booth with his eyes trained on the NBA finals. He took a sip of his beer and eyed the much younger crowd before trying to catch Rosie's eye. But Rosie and Buzz were bartending. Or, Rosie was bartending and Buzz was chatting.
He grinned when Rosie finally kicked her son out from behind the bar because he wasn't doing his job - and he wasn't good at the job he was doing. Alistair felt bad for the kid. He had never asked for this, for any of this. He wondered if the kid had returned to classes but it didn't seem like it.
Buzz slid onto one of the unoccupied stools, a beer awaiting him when he looked up. His mom smiled at him before grabbing another one. In the corner, Rosie did shots with two young regulars. Men. Rowdy. But, good customers.
But, still, Alistair stayed in his corner - the devil horns that were given to him playfully sitting beside him. He sighed, for no reason other then that he was about to humor that crazy woman. He placed them on his head and took another sip. As the Heat lost their game, the music kicked in full blast and that was his cue to leave, the other patrons remaining, the Saints and Sinners party finally getting underway.
