Biscornu Update

handy fact # A - buzzy has finally learnt to spell biscornu

handy fact # b - flisters on cross-stitch have seen this post

handy fact # C - but I will provide witty commentry if I can spell it

I think everyone who knows me (personally or online] knows how I get with "A Project" regardless of whether I'm writing [Billy Tallent and Armando Langoustini somewhere in the Arizona desert], reading ["Wallander with Vampires" - explanation is a ghastly bit of short hand for a claustrophobic, social realistic, plain disturbed and atmospheric little shocker - probably the best thing I have read for ages] and everything else [comics, obscure canadiana].

The current monster is a cross-stitched biscornu.

For the benefit of non-stitchers, it is a rather odd kind of pincushion.

It's made out of two square panels but looks round when put together.

Technical: panel #1 was going to be the base - it went wrong. So I shelved that and did panel #2. Plan: get that right and then use it to compare and trouble-shoot. Panel #2 had a lot of trouble of its own. After umpteen mistakes and medium scale unpicking, I finally got #2 right

Non-Stitchers: look at the pretty below the cut.

Technical: Once I got this finished, I headed back to #1. I thought it was just a floral quarter out of place. So I did some light unpicking and put the right stuff in. Only... if it weren't for #2, I would have carried on stitching and now have a lot to unpick. As it is, the flower areas all need taking out, because the little white squares at North-East etcetera are about 3 stitches further away from the diamond on #1. So it wouldn't have come out square. Or the right size.

Non-Stitchers: I have a shed load of unpicking to do. Joy.

The only good news is that I caught it before it could get worse.

More cross-stitch trauma. I am sure you are thrilled.
