I'm not sure whether it's the title, but it's what bbd enticed me down stairs with. So, time travel, bizarre "science" and weird 80s music; yup. Oh and a nuanced portrayal of life in Papua New Gineau right at the end with Biggles and co all in a very big cauldron only to be saved by our misterious time-hoping yankee. *eyeroll*
that's the one! the only biggles film ever made. and it is not very good! (also, while the biggles books are indeed super-racist as befits their period, they do in fact stop short of the cannibal-native-uggaa-ugga stereotype. so, wtf film?)
i would love to see a GOOD biggles film adaptation...
(oh god! It's worse than reading Lion and Valiant annuals. I might have a fondness for Kelly's Eye. It has legs)
I'd like to see a good anything right now. *thinkity* I've gone blank. Blanketty blank. ;-)
(Uh, I'd settle for a copy of "The 35th of May or Conrad's Ride to the South Seas" by Erich Kastner. They had it at school, but I never saw it anywhere else, also I was probably the only person to read it. Daringly - in Nazi Germany at least - it has Parsley a girl with harlequin pattern skin because her father was black and her mother a Dutch missionary. Great, but not terribly "Boys' Own")
