The (not terribly) Grand Buzzy F-list Stitch And Bitch

Firstly, all I know about Stitch and Bitch-ery comes from The Grand Atlantis Stitch and Bitch by pru (at least I hope it's by pru). Secondly, I can't knit. Thirdly, I thought it was a really good title for this entry.

Firstly, we have the Geranium Flower Fairy (it's a DMC kit, btw) on 16-count Aida.

And here's a slightly less close up picture:

The fuzz is to obscure my initials which I stitched on the bottom. I will say this, it was not the most interesting of kits to do. Especially, once you got to the half-cross stitched background. To answer those who know; yes, I go fast, but I have no job and can do it for hours at a time. This one, I tacked ten square boxes on, corresponding to the boxes marked on the chart. This makes counting easier and makes it a hell of a lot easier to spot mistakes (provided of course that the grid is stitched correctly...)

Before I did the Fairy of Yawn, I finished off this:

Her name is Mai and she is Dimensions kit no:6760 (18 count Aida). Good luck to anyone looking for Dimensions kits in the UK (cans DMC monopoly rant and also the one on how C&H only seems to stock "moderate" difficulty DMC kits of unbarable twee/cutsiness). Okay, this kit took me forever, as I was doing it through my degree, and also because the background was a rhymes with witch.

Anyone with tips on ironing/pressing? (I hate ironing with the heat of a thousand suns, which comes in handy when getting the creases out of things) Currrently, the fairy was ironed facing into a towel and covered with a handkercheif. While Mai was between two layers of towel (because I am very nervous given the higher level of "texture" in her, particularly the embroidery and the gold thread). The heat is somewhere in the middle of the dial and no steam is involved.

Oh, and do you think Fraser would get the idea of cross-stitch? I think not. He gets sewing and knitting for practical purposes (and likewise sketching suspects) but doesn't quite get it for decoration. Plus in the dark north it would probably be a really good way to ruin your eyes. Turnbull almost certainly does. He's just keeping it hidden from the Inspector as it shows Fraser in a particularly heroic pose. He also keeps it hidden from Fraser, on the grounds that he might find the love hearts slightly disturbing.

why is stitch so hard to spell?, flowerfairy, cross stitch, meta, ah lotus blossem, turnbull does cross-stitch, things i do when i should be writing, cross-stitch
