Time to dust off LJ as a means to blog my househunting. I don't think
Pollyanna Diaries is the right forum - open to anyone to see including, potentially, the people who own the houses. So here I am.
Today, L and went to see
this flat.
It's the bottom half of a villa, three bedrooms. I did a rough plan of it when I came home:
First thoughts. The third bedroom is *awfully* small. This means L would have to have that and realistically his toys would need to continue to live elsewhere in the flat. Or, he could have the main bedroom and I could have the dining room, which would leave nowhere to put the dining table except the living room. That's a possibility - it's a huge room. Need to get measurements of the table from my brother.
Living room overlooks the upstairs neighbour's garden (in reasonable order). Gorgeous view over the Forth.
Kitchen is tiny and not well laid out. No room for a fridge freezer at present.
The owner did show me plans they have had drawn up to convert the kitchen, back hall and 3rd bedroom into an open plan kitchen-dining room. It also involved adding a bay window (which could be French doors with access to the side garden) and a new back porch. But that would cost at least 15k I think.
Side garden faces west, will get afternoon and evening sun. Small front garden. Small back patio area (North facing).
Huge garage with two side rooms - didn't check on plumbing but has electricity. Access to garage is up a steep hill on a side street.
Uneven steps to garage from back door. Gravel steps down from street to front door (sloping access, via neighbour's driveway).
