My camera was trashed in my little altercation with a Turkish truck some ten days ago but, luckily, one of my girlfriends has the same camera software so I was able to download the pictures I took in Turkey during some of my free time.
I've uploaded a few to Fotopics in the hope that I can get direct linking working again!
This is the "Blue" Mosque, so called because of the 1,000s of blue tiles on its interior. It's an amazing site - both during the day and at night.
I got in trouble for showing my knees inside! I was really embarrassed because I thought I was complying with all of the restrictions - women must cover their head, shoulders and knees. My pashmina, courtesy of my trip to the Grand Bazaar, satisfied the first two but my skirt exposed a hint of knee when I walked - so a Mosque official gave me a piece of cloth to wrap around my waist and cover the offending articles!
I just LOVE Istanbul - the history and the culture. Just four hours from the UK but a million miles apart in terms of the feel of the place.
And here is the aforementioned Grand Bazaar:
These lights were fantastic - but they would look pretty out of place in a terraced house in Liverpool.
I'm almost looking forward to going back - apart from the taxi journeys!!
