things are a bit... catty.

Oh?  Is this a second cat post in a row?  I'm afraid so...

When I got home last night one of my neighbours was out washing her car, and I saw what seemed to be my black cat sitting nearby.  This puzzled me a bit as my cat tends to avoid other humans; it was only when the cat moved slightly that I realised it wasn't Cypher, but a different black cat.  So, I chatted to my neighbour and confirmed that, yes, they'd just recently adopted a cat from the SPCA.  A black cat.  Another one!

So, down in my little cul-de-sac Winnipeg Way,  these are some of the cats that frequent the area:

My Cypher, who is a medium sized black short hair.  His distinguishing features are elongated wedge-shaped head, a bit of a belly and a very skinny tail.

Then there's this new cat of my neighbours, which is also a medium sized black short hair.  This one has a flattened face that suggests some sort of persian heritage.

There's McFee, who while owned by a neighbour tends to spend much of this time in my upstairs neighbours flat.  McFee is an older, larger black short hair who is distinguished by a small white patch under his chin and a face that shows the result of many many fights.  He's the dominant tomcat in the area.

Also in the neighbourhood is a smaller black short hair, with a elogation to it's head and ears that indicates some sort of siamese or burmese in it's background.  This little thing is the one most likely to sneak in and steal Cypher's food.

And, still with the black cats, there's also another smaller black cat with some long-hair heritage, it's coat is a bit longer than the others and has a very fluffy tail.

Those are the black cats - there are also in the area the little grey-and-white shorthair that moved in with her owner in the last few weeks, the bulky orange tabby who every other cat seems to hate, the old and unwell looking orange longhair from just up the lane, two tabbies - one with a collar, one without, and finally a friendly medium sized white shorthair.

Driving down Winnipeg Way in the dark can often produce a half-dozen or more eyes glowing in the headlights then disappearing as the cats all run for cover.

A bit catty, one might say.

cats, cypher
