I'm spending way too much time posting about a game I hardly play, but...
Blizzard has decided to let me back into the sandbox.
They issued an e-mail with some very specific instructions about making sure my account info, computer, and e-mail are secure and warned me that if there was any further monkey business things might get ugly between us. I also had to write to a special address confirming that I'd done as they recommended, in order to get the switch turned back on. I even let them know I've ordered one of their
authenticators simply because at this point I am paranoid.
I may not even play on my PC until that comes in, just in case. I've scanned for viruses, spy-ware and the like. My firewall was already on, my router already secured. I don't know how I got hacked in the first place, but the annoyance is enough to stick with my Mac until the authenticator comes in. At which point logging in will be a lot like receiving a
flash-traffic EAM.
Until I lose the damn authenticator or have it seized by the TSA on a business trip because with my luck I'll get the one agent whose never even heard of MMOs.
