Clearly this article upset me. I apologise for the following rant.smoketheworldNovember 19 2005, 09:08:26 UTC
"Salzman believes men want their masculinity back and are fed up with taking cues from Cosmo and their female friends and lovers."
What about the WOMEN who are sick of taking their cues from Cosmo?! Its sick how society assumes that guys who dont want to cater their appearance and bahavior to what society wants are REAL men whereas women who dont want to do that and actually show stregnth of CHARACTER are somehow unfeminine and not worth paying attention to in pop culture.
And that term 'uber sexual' was silly. So, he's a big, strong, manly man who is confident about his sexual identity.
As an 'uber sexual' female I think that article is based on societal standards. Did you know that not only are men who are 'uber sexual' are more 'instinctive' and secure (as i take the meaning means, when you boil it down) but science is finding that WOMEN who are active and confident about their sexualities dedicated to THEIR sexual identities are often more fertile and go through less painful and childbirth and often have healthier children? I like how magazines ignore that.
