Read the following article for what it is. Reserve your comments or rantings until you have read the entire thing. I am not promoting Palin here, but the comments made by Dr. Lynette Long are quite profound and the resistance she has met from Senator Obama's campaign is a bit disheartening.

I am only a man, and one man, with limited view and limited perspective. But I see Governor Palin and I see a person who has tried to limit other women's choices, and to me, that's about as much a stride for feminism as Clarence Thomas's seat on the Supreme Court is a stand for civil rights.
Just because they look the part doesn't mean shit. Or Michelle Malkin would be pro-civil rights rather than pro-internment. Let me ask if Dr. Long thinks Ann Coulter is a good thing for feminism. Was Margaret Thatcher a step forward for British women, or a step back?
I don't know certain things that women understand, but I do see Palin reinforcing certain expectations of women. Where is Long's outrage for her rank ignorance of governance, outrage at rightwing pundits openly sexualizing Palin, describing her as pretty when they should be speaking of her qualifications? This is such a token move that it is revolting. For an earmark-queen, pro-censorship, anti-choice, pro-rape, anti-sex-ed woman to be touted as a candidate for the working women of America makes me sick.
Dr. Long points out a lot of what's wrong with the Democrats. God, I wish some people could take a look at the whole picture, though, instead of shining their light in only one way.

You are right about her not exactly being the face of feminism. She strikes me as more anti-woman than anything. I am not even sure she looks the part, but that could be because she is being kept off camera these days and I have forgotten what she looks like ;-P
