Why
Why
When I was 8 I saw my first "houseless" person. No no, Of course I had seen home-bums before. I'm talking about real life dirty kid. Backpack, dog, sign, dirt. I was fascinated, but didn't fully understand.
I remember being so inspired by the classic rock songs my father played. They all talked about hopping trains, traveling just for the hell of it. It was a fantasy in my mind. I wanted that. I wanted the freedom, the danger. Of course being a good little midwestern belle, I didn't take my chances at hitchhiking out of town, or hopping on the next train out of town.
For years I forgot about the alternative lifestyle that I so lovingly wished for, until I met Solo.
Now if any of you reading this knew Solo, you would be horribly in love. Talented drummer, phenomenal singer, dark handsome.
He was passing through a small college town, that was relatively close to where I lived.
After hanging out for a few days, and taking a quick road trip to New Orleans, he asked me if I would like to travel with him. With the difficulties going on in my life I yearned so much for adventure. I had the wanderlust again.
We travelled together as road dogs for a few months before we started "officially dating" It eventually happened that I got pregnant and could no longer travel. So we settled down in Arizona for a few months until we had Azure, our lovely daughter. We then moved back to the midwest for my own personal reasons.
We now have a family, he is working and I am going to school, so we are no longer able to travel. I am an archaeology major, but am also interested in anthropology.
