Entry Seven - Vegan cuntism

Mar 31, 2011 07:41

I understand that I can be a cunt sometimes... Okay alot of the time really. But what I find even more annoying is "I'm better than everyone" vegans.
Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of veganism, and no animal cruelity. I am a vegan myself.
Here is what really bursts my bubble though.
Even though we are vegan, and only buy vegan products we usually buy them from a supermarket right? They usually have the best prices, because as anyone who has ever looked at a tofu label knows... Meat alternatives are EXPENSIVE!
Now recently I had a conflict with another vegan about my husband smoking Tobacco. He smokes American Spirit, which is not tested on animals. But according to this guy (or girl not really sure) since the company the tobacco comes from, animal tests (on other brands of tobacco), and we are buying from that company, we are by default supporting animal testing.
Now here is where things get interesting. After reading this, at first, I felt like a total dumby. I felt cheated, and sad. But then I started thinking.
Wait, think about it. If that means I'm supporting animal cruelty, then what about buying vegan food at a grocery store that also sells meat. Thats supporting animal cruelty too.
We would really have to stop doing EVERYTHING we did to be vegan, if we looked at it the way this douche bag did.
The process of getting the gas for our cars, kills hundreds of different animals.
The roads we drive on was once an animal habitat, the animals were most likely killed.
The energy we use has multiple side effects on the animals around us.
Yet these are okay...

cruelty, animal testing, grocery store, american spirit, tofu, tobacco, vegan, veganism, cunt
