Rambling: No Schmoop and a Thank You
Hello my lovelies! I'm afraid to report that it has been a schmoop-free week in my world…
and likely to say that way.
Yesterday I spent the evening dealing with my apartment complex because after, oh probably, four years, of me complaining that the grout keeps flaking off the tile in my shower (their solution - regrout over and over instead of oh, I don't know, actually fixing the problem) anyway, they finally believe that there's something wrong with the wall behind the tile. I slipped and caught myself on Monday morning and the wall just… gave way. SO GROSS! I don't even want to think about what I've been breathing in. Our roof leaked every winter for the first few years we lived here (yeah, yeah, I know, but it's huge and cheap) and I think there must have been a spot over that wall that just seeped and rotted the whole thing. *shudder*
Then this morning, I get to work and the entire administrative staff (i.e. my team) called in sick except for me. So I was the ONLY admin in the office today - phones, front desk, ordering lunches, reserving rental cars, plus all the project work for all the freaking projects, you get the idea. I was able to con someone into watching the phones twice for a total of about 3 minutes so I could actually go to the bathroom, but that was my only break. And maybe someone can explain this to me - why on earth would you start a conversation with a woman who is obviously completely buried in work with "So you're the only admin here today? Wow, you must be really busy." - and then proceed to stand there and babble about absolutely nothing for fifteen freaking minutes?? I wanted to print out a today's icon (*points to icon*) and tape it to a stick so I could just hold it up at people. *shakes head* I fear for the human race.
So I'm gonna give the schmoop a miss this week and resume next Monday. The upside is that this week was a Lambliff fic and hardly anyone is reading those anyway so at least I'm disappointing a smaller group. :) I'll be back next Monday with the regularly scheduled Janto Schmoop and the Lambliff fic will join the random ninja fics for posting "at some point" before the end of the year.
To end on a happy note, I would like to send a great big THANK YOU to the lovely person who gifted me with a year of Dreamwidth!! *hugs* I can't wait to get over there to start playing around and figuring out the best way to link up my LJ and DW accounts. THANK YOU THANK YOU!!
