I don't really watch TV or the news unless I'm at my family's places in Houston, so I was taken by surprise when I got an email from my parents with pics of a ginourmous flood!!! :O

Divergence all the way up at the subphylum level is hardly 'closely related'

Crayfish = subphylum Crustacea
Cockroach = subphylum Mandibulata

i guess the point he was trying to make was crayfish and lobsters are more closely related to cockroaches than to, say, chickens or rabbits... and thus ok to toss into boiling water alive.

Since crustaceans feel pain, I'd have to disagree with him.

(BTW, I'm not from PETA, I'm not even vegetarian. I just think, if you're going to kill something, you should do it as quickly and painlessly as possible. The thought of boiling things alive squicks me the hell out.)
