Background:
Bridge's entry @ Power Rangers Wikia Personality:
If one were to judge Bridge based merely off his first impression, they'd more than likely assume that he was a scatterbrained fool with no real sense of how to do anything. The truth is that he's actually a pretty smart guy. He simply has a different way of working around daily obstacles. He likes to be very through in his investigations, going as far as actually sniffing someone's dog to pick up clues. Awkward? Yes, but it gets the job done. He also has a unique way of 'thinking'. He'll stand on his head for hours at a time, stating that he's trying to 'make the ideas fall out'.
He's generally very laid back around others. If the general mood of the room is on high alert, he'll try to crack a (usually terrible) joke to break the tension. That's not to say he doesn't have his serious moments. Whenever someone's life is in danger, he'll do everything he can to save them, even if it means putting is own life on the line. But that comes with his line of work.
Bridge also happens to be a technology geek. If it's a new piece of equipment that he's never seen before, he'll more than likely want to take it apart to see how it works. If it's broken, he'll be sure to fix. Although sometimes he gets a little too extreme with fixing things and tries to turn them into completely different objects than originally intended. Most of these little experiments go horribly wrong and leave a huge mess for him to clean up.
Despite now being the leader of SPD's B-Squad rangers, Bridge still holds his somewhat childish and silly mannerisms. This doesn't stop people from looking up to him. In fact, most of the new cadets are more than happy to follow someone like him. He proves that one doesn't have to be 'perfect' to be a leader. Everyone has their own quirks, but that's no reason to be ashamed of who you are.
Why did Bridge decide to join SPD in the first place? The first and most obvious reason is for access to the latest technology that only SPD Rangers are allowed to handle. The SPD Academy is probably the most high-tech facility in world, so it really only makes sense that a tech geek like him would love being surrounded by so many new gadgets. The second and less selfish reason ties in with his parents.
Both his parents were members of SPD as scientists researching ways to make new powers for the Rangers. It so happened that his mother was pregnant with him during this time, with the repeated exposure changing his own genetic make-up and infusing him with some of these powers. He spent most of his childhood in and around the headquarters, watching the other cadets train so hard just to protect the city he was part of. Their determination inspired him enough to eventually join the academy, and he would slowly work his way through the ranks until he was finally able to become a Ranger.
Although he may not have changed much in the way of his quirky habits, Bridge has shown as much maturation as the rest of his team. In the beginning, he really wasn't too confident in his abilities. But with time and dedication to his team, he would finally be able to stand up to all the daily challenges one must face as a Ranger. His commanding officer was impressed enough by his change to eventually promote him to become the Red Ranger of B-Squad, where he would surely continue to mature in his role as leader.
Abilities:
Bridge was (due to an experiment involving his and the rest of his team's parents) born with a unique psychic ability. As per most 'mutant' stories, the powers didn't really show up until he hit his early teens. It wasn't until he enrolled in the Space Patrol Delta Academy that he actually learned how to control this power of his. It started off pretty basic, with him only being able to read the 'aura' of beings that had recently been in present location he was in, but it soon evolved into brief glimpses of the future via dreams and being able to feel people's emotions. The draw back to this power is that he must keep gloves on to not sense everyone in the room's feelings. That would obviously cause some kind of overload. He's still trying to learn how to read thoughts.
As previously mentioned, Bridge has a superb mechanical prowess. Even if he's never dealt with a certain piece of machinery, it won't take him long to figure out how to use, take it apart, or fix it.
Aside from those two points, Bridge is also a
Power Ranger. For those not in the know, they are basically a team of humans given special devices that allow them to '
morph', coating them in a special super resistant material and enhancing their own fighting abilities. They normally have a wide range of arsenal, including giant robots known as
Zords.
Sample Entry:
[Bridge is... very accustomed to just punching a few random buttons on a machine and instantly getting any food he could ever want, so having somebody cook for him was certainly an awkward change.]
Wow, home-cooked food, huh? I haven't had this kind of stuff since I was a kid. It's amazing how much technology advanced in just the few short years I've been living. Granted, this place... really doesn't have that kind of stuff, does it? It's not that bad, though. Most of the technology you guys have here is pretty hard to get a hold of where I'm from, so it's a great opportunity to study past mechanics.
[And then Bridge would actually take a bite of the food. ...!]
Wow, this is amazing. I guess there really are some things that technology can't replicate. You're a pretty good cook. Uh, you... wouldn't mind teaching me how to cook too, would you? I mean, not like I got much else to do here.
