Summary: When Saga, a host at Moonshine Host Club doesn't quite meet his end in a deal he's made he meets Shou, a dorky, frumpy college student and the two team up to settle Saga's debt in an unexpected manner.

Thirty minutes later Saga was unlocking the gate to his apartment. The two decided that it was at least best for them to make it to his place first before parting as Saga wasn't sure if Goro knew where he lived or not. Being Saga lived so close to the club he was worried that Goro had seen him come and go.
Saga opened the tall metal gate as Shou stood behind him.
"Well..." Saga began as he turned to face a very ragged looking Shou, Shou looked at him as if he had been daydreaming just a moment ago.
"Yea?" Shou asked as he wiped his nose against his knitted sweater sleeve.
"Thanks for um you know" Saga said with an awkward smile.
"Right" Shou nodded before shoving his hands in his jean pockets, "no problem"
"So...about that money" Saga said looking everywhere but at the guy, "I'll um...I'll see what I can do"
Shou looked at him startled, "What? Seriously?"
Saga shrugged, "I owe you don't I?"
"No." Shou said immediately, "but you umm owe Riku?"
"Not really, I owe you for jumping in, I mean you didn't have to..."
"You don't. The guy was going to stab you! Who wouldn't help!?" Shou said with a strained laugh as he did not want to be burdened with someone being indebted to him.
"Ha.." Saga said not knowing what else to say, "Umm you look cold, do you want to at least come in and warm up?"
"I actually should probably.." Shou let his voice fade as he thought about it, Saga was probably offering because he felt bad about what had happened.
"Sure why not? My hands are numb" Shou said laughing. Saga smiled and offered to let him go first.
The two walked down the dark gang way that led to the backdoor of his building. Shou slowing down, allowed Saga to walk ahead and to the entrance. Stopping in front of a green door with a very yellow light above it Saga stared at his keys until he found the one he needed.
"Just letting you know now that I'm messy" Saga said with a soft laugh as he unlocked the back door.
"Haha that's no issue" Shou said as he followed Saga up a metal staircase. Going up a couple flights of stairs Saga finally stopped.
Unlocking the door he entered the dark apartment and flipped on the lights before taking his shoes off. Shou shut the door and watched him before slipping off his own shoes.
"You want something to drink or anything?" Saga asked as he started to take off his black suit jacket. Shou looked around the room and was a bit surprised at just how messy the place was.
The couch and side chair were covered with clothes upon clothes. The coffee table was littered with random hair products, colognes, ashtrays, bottles of wine, and other beauty items.
Saga seeing Shou's face laughed, "Hey I told you."
"No I just..." Shou said laughing too
"Well to be fair this room serves as a...closet?" Saga said as he tossed the jacket on top of a pile of jackets and shirts.
"A closet!" Shou said in shocked amusement.
"I have a persona to keep up ok?" Saga said lightly in defense.
"Does a host really need all these clothes?" Shou asked curiously as Saga entered the kitchen area.
"Of course" Saga said with a grin as he popped a instant noodle cup into the microwave. Opening the fridge he grabbed two beers. Walking back to Shou he handed him one before he started to clean off room on the couch for the two of them.
"So what are you learning?" Saga asked as he took a seat and gestured for Shou to sit beside him. Shou smiled before sitting next to him.
"I'm a biology major" Shou said as he looked at the large pile of clothes he was crammed next to beside Saga.
"Sounds interesting" Saga said as he leaned back on the couch. Opening his drink he took a healthy gulp of it as he looked at Shou.
Shou looked at his own drink, and not really being much of a drinker, gingerly opened it and took a tiny sip.
"It's kind of interesting" Shou said, "I want to work with plants"
"Oh yea? Like a botanist or whatever?" Saga asked
"Something like that" Shou said with a smile.
"So do you garden or something?" Saga said with a smirk
"Hahaha well I do but it's more like I want to study moss on rocks"
"You make it sound so riveting with that example" Saga said with a laugh
Shou laughed and shrugged, "Hey it is to me"
"Hmm... I can see how it can be interesting if you know what's going on. To everyone else its just laying there right? But hey who knows, maybe they're having the time of their lives multiplying and spreading other lazy motionless moss children"
Shou busted out laughing, "In a way you are kind of right actually"
"Oh yea?" Saga said laughing as he got up to get his food.
"So um...that thing with Goro. Is that going to be ok?"
"Hm? Oh yea it'll be fine" Saga nodded as he took a seat on the floor now.
Opening up the noodle lid all the way he started shoveling noodles in his mouth, "I'll tell Toshi and we'll get it straightened out"
"But...we threw a bottle at him" Shou said with a weak laugh
"Yea.." Saga said between chewing, "but as long as he gets his money he'll be fine, he'll just give Toshi a warning about keeping us in check"
"Are you sure?"
"....No but I have to think that or I wont be able to relax" Saga said with a smirk as he continued eating.
"You know..." Shou began as he looked down at his un-drunk can, "I'm going to find another way of getting Riku's money for school"
"What are you going to do?" Saga asked with a creased brow as he wiped his mouth on his dress shirt, "she paid me 10 grand to do that job"
Shou's eyes widened, "You're joking! It was only three weeks!"
"Nope" Saga said simply as he kept eating
"How is that reasonable!?"
"It is if you consider that I actually get paid more than that in a month. I had to miss a lot of time to help her out"
"You make more than that in a month!?"
"Definitely if I can stomach it" Saga said with a laugh
"Stomach it?"
"You have to keep up a steady clientele which is hard as girls that come to clubs are fickle. Also you have to get them to drink, the more you drink with them, the more money you walk out with" Saga said with a shrug.
"Do you have to be good looking?" Shou asked with a tilt of his head
"Not necessarily, you have to be good with women"
"Like how?"
"You have to be charming, you know have a personality, you also need to get them to want to come back and see you. You have to..woo them if you will"
"So is it just something you have or you don't?"
"Well some of it is you but a lot of it is through training" Saga said with a smirk, "Toshi is a pro at it and he trains guys really well."
"Um...do you...have sex with them?" Shou asked looking down
Saga laughed, "No way"
"Really?" Shou said looking up in confusion
"That would be bad for the club"
"I see..." Shou said slowly as he seemed to be in deep thought. Saga got up and tossed the foam cup in the trash. Coming back over he started to dig through his pile of clothes. Noticing Shou was spacing out he stopped and face him, "You ok?"
"Yea" Shou said with a smile, "I'm just thinking about it"
"Look it'll take me about two months to get the cash so don't worry about it. Just tell her to sit tight." Saga said going back to digging through his clothes, finding what he wanted he set it on top of the pile as he started unbuttoning his dress shirt.
"But you have to get Goro's money" Shou said watching him as he slipped off the dress shirt and put on an old looking tshirt that had the words NWO on it.
"Who said that?" Saga asked amused as he started to take off his pants. Shou looked away as he did so, feeling uncomfortable with Saga's lacking need for privacy.
Seeing him slip on a pair of black track pants in the corner of his eye Shou looked back toward him, "Goro said it was you who owed him money. Toshi too but obviously you're involved"
"I am but hey me and Toshi can gather that up in no time" Saga said walking back over to sit beside him on the couch.
"I refuse" Shou said then
"Refuse?" Saga said with a cocked eyebrow
"Yes I refuse because I don't believe you. I don't want to be responsible if something happens to you because you can't pay Goro on time or something."
"Hey I said to give me two months"
"No" Shou said with a shake of his head, "It's out of your hands"
Saga laughed, "Wow you are a nice guy aren't you? First it's not Riku's fault and now it's not even my fault."
"Hey I never said that" Shou said with a laugh
"Ah I see, but you certainly are responsible for it" Saga said teasing him
"I am. I told you she's like a sister to me."
"Sure" Saga said with a shrug, "I get it"
"Good" Shou said simply
Saga huffed a laugh and closed his eyes as he leaned his head on the back of the couch. The exhaustion hit him hard as his body finally began to relax from the long night he had.
"Can I ask you something?" Shou asked after a few moments of silence
"Sure" Saga said with a sleepy smile
"Why did you blow her cover?" Shou asked in a low voice
"You want the truth?"
"Of course"
"It started getting too personal for my comfort. Literally on the last night she tried to sleep with me. I wanted to sleep with her too and that bothered me. So I guess..in my anger with myself I did something cruel to her."
"Do you have feelings for her?"
Saga laughed lightly, "No. It was just a physical attraction. It was bad enough I was agreeing to see her outside the club and when I found I was sexually interested I had to draw the line. I didn't want to screw up everything I had worked for with Toshi and the club. They're like family to me."
"I see." Shou said as he looked down at his still full drink, "I'm sorry about calling you those names."
Saga smirked, "Don't worry about it"
"You look really tired..." Shou said feeling his stay with the guy was probably preventing him from sleeping.
"I am. I'm surprised you aren't"
"I'm dead tired but I have to get back to my dorm" Shou said standing up now, "I'll leave you to get some rest."
Sitting up straighter Saga opened his eyes before standing up as well.
"I umm I suppose what I should say was it was nice meeting you but obviously it wasn't a nice meeting at all" Shou said with a laugh.
Saga smiled, "Hey some of it was fun, watching you take out Goro was pretty cool"
Shou shook his head with a smile as he walked over to the hall to put his shoes on, "So please do not worry about Riku and the money thing."
"Right I wont" Saga said laughing, "I just feel bad because I feel like I at least owe you something"
"Nah, thanks for the drink and allowing me to warm up before I left. Its enough" Shou said with a polite nod.
"I guess" Saga said with a shrug.
Shou gave Saga a wide warm smile before bowing a bit, "It was a pleasure anyway" he said politely.
As Shou stood up straight again he saw that Saga was staring rather strangely at him. His eyes which were once sleepy were now lit up as he studied Shou's face.
"Saga?" Shou asked cautiously as he found the sudden change incredibly odd.
Saga slammed the door that he had opened for Shou shut causing the other man to jump before dragging Shou back toward the sofa.
"What's going o-"
"Shou I have an idea. Sit down." Saga said practically shoving him backward onto the couch. Shou fell and stared up at him with wide eyes.
"Ok..." Shou said uncertainly
"What if we both worked together?" Saga asked vaguely.
"What?"
"On getting the money. You and I can both do this together"
"But how?" Shou sputtered in confusion.
"Working as a host" Saga said as if it was obvious
"What!?"
"You have potential. I just realized it a moment ago, I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner..."
"But I really don't! Girls scare me" Shou said in a pitchy voice.
"So? They scare everybody. I can teach you how to talk to girls easily"
"But I'm ugly and I'm a loser" Shou said quickly.
"That doesn't even matter, girls don't care about looks and they wouldn't even know that you were a loser. Besides you would actually be pretty hot once we cleaned you up a bit"
"I-I-I don't know..." Shou said turning red
"Shou please think about it, together we can get this money quickly" Saga asked as he knelt down to look at him as Shou kept avoiding his face.
"But don't I have to actually be accepted!?" Shou asked with fear in his eyes.
" Toshi would hire you easily, especially if I asked him too"
"But aren't my chances already ruined? Everyone thinks I'm the creepy gay guy who scared you" Shou said quite seriously. The tone of his voice made Saga laugh.
"That can be easily fixed, people don't remember stuff like that anyway."
"Saga I dont know..."
"Shou you have what it takes" Saga said looking at him with certainty, "besides it would make me feel better knowing that I can repay you"
"But why!? I told you" Shou said scooting closer to the edge of the sofa in earnest.
"I wouldn't do it if you weren't so goddamn nice so take it as that would you?" Saga said impatiently.
Shou shut up then and staring at Saga he tried to imagine himself being a host.
"So?" Saga asked
"....ok" Shou said and as soon as he said it Saga jumped up to his feet.
"Good" Saga said with a smile, "Now I need to lay down before I drop down dead"
Shou huffed out a laugh as he sat there a bit overwhelmed. He wasn't sure what he had agreed to but seeing Saga's certainty he thought that maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
