Elena had always wanted children. Neither of them had ever considered being parents until she told them over breakfast one morning that she wanted to be a mother. They had both paused in drinking their coffee and looked up at her but her gaze remained on the newspaper as though she hadn’t spoken at all.
They didn’t plan it. None of them had actually decided that they were going to be parents. It just wasn’t something they felt the need to discuss. If it happened then it happened and that was how it would be.
And yet they should have known that when both men showed up at the hospital for the birth of their child that they would get some pretty interesting looks- and that answering the question of whom the father was would end up being quite difficult.
