She had decided a long time ago that it was pointless to try to fight her feelings anymore. She has accepted that she had fallen helplessly in love with the one person who she knew would never truly love her. As foolish as that was, she knew she couldn’t deny her feelings for him.

She had tried to deny them for quite some time, convincing herself that loving someone like him was pointless. As different as their lives had been, she was sure that any kind of relationship the two of them had the chance of conceiving was sure to fail in the end. That would have killed her, she was sure, because she loved him so much that it tightened her chest and made her heart swell. It made breathing become nearly impossible.

So Tifa had learned to overlook the things that would make their relationship damn near impossible to actually be there. She knew it was probably a stupid thing to do- after all, just because you forgot about sins it didn’t mean they went away- but she knew that if she didn’t think about those thing then they wouldn’t bother her. It was denial, she knew, but she also knew that the bad things he had done weren’t who he was. Deep down he was a good man, a man who loved her like no other man ever had. He cherished her, treated her with such kindness it would make her stop and have to catch her breath.

This love, she decided, was more important than his past. He made her feel completely at ease, completely beautiful. He would kiss her like she was the most important thing in the world; like that action alone made his heart beat. He would make her feel like she was the only person he could even see as anything more than static to fill in space. His love for her was so strong it felt like a weight in her chest, and she cherished that crushing feeling, wanted to bottle it and keep it on a shelf.

Turk or not, she decided that he was hers and she was his and that was all there was to it. Without him she was sure that she would starve to death, because his kisses quenched her hunger, quenched her thirst. It made her feel complete and whole, which was a feeling she hadn’t felt since she had been a little girl.

With him she had found peace, she had found hope and reason. He made her want a family with him, made her want to wake up in the morning with him, sleep by his side every night. She wanted to be surrounded in his scent, to feel his arms around her whenever she was upset. She wanted to carry his children, bring into the world living symbols of their love. He had made her want to so many things that she was sure without him she would have absolutely no goals, no wants. He had created all of them for her, made her want an even better life than she already had.

He had introduced her to a new way to live. And she was so thankful she was never going to leave him.

She swore it.
