Summary: He knew it embarrassed her.
There was a song playing quietly on the radio, a tune that seemed oddly familiar and yet he couldn’t place where he knew it from. It was like a distant memory that he just couldn’t piece together.
She didn’t seem to be having the same problem as she sat there, chewing on the edge of her pen, looking over the report in front of her. These were rare times, when the two of them would sit together in his office going over reports. Not that he didn’t want this to be a more frequent thing, but it never seemed to work out that way. One of them always seemed to be too busy to sit with the other, not through lack of trying to find time though. They just seemed to have bad luck when it came to those sorts of things.
She made a soft sound, halfway between annoyed and confused, biting down more firmly on the end of her pen. He could feel the edges of his mouth curling up into an almost smile as he watched her, eyebrows furrowed, removing the pen from her mouth to tap it rhythmically against his desk, unconsciously following the beat of that song on the radio he still couldn’t place.
All at once she seemed to figure out whatever it was that had been bothering her and she lowered her pen to the paper, scribbling harshly across the paper.
His soft chuckle startled her into looking up, chocolate eyes wide.
He leaned across the desk, kissing her, and instantly that surprised look on her face was gone and was replaced with a dark blush.
He knew that showing her affection at work always embarrassed her, but there were times he just couldn’t help himself.
