Daybook: August 27, 2012
Today is: My Mother-in-Law's birthday. Wishing a very happy birthday to Paula!
Outside it is a beautiful sunny but humid day. Tropical Storm Isaac is supposed to cause some rain later but for now it is beautiful outside.
I am reading - just finished two books. One was A Secret Affair by Mary Balogh. It was okay. A Regency romance so it was set between 1811 and 1820. This one was about a widow coming out of her year of mourning who decided to take a lover. A very scandalolus decision indeed! It was okay but it belabored the point of the hero and heroine using misconceptions and perceptions as masks to hide behind. The second one was On The Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves. Sooo good. Told in alternating chapters by Anna and TJ. Anna is 30 and will be spending the summer tutoring TJ, 16 on an island in the Maldives. He missed most of school last year due to being sick. The chartered plane they are on goes down and the wash up on an uninhabited island in the Maldives. I literally read it in one night. Started it around 9:30 and stayed up until it was done, it was that good. That was book number 48 for the year, in case anyone was wondering.
I am creating - need to make a few birthday cards and a Bar Mitzvah card. First I have a few stamps to order. Should try to do that today.
Plans for the week
The kids are home! Peter had a great time at his grandparents and Hannah declared last week to be "The BEST week of my life!" This week we'll see. I have a lot of phone calls to make during the mornings but afternoons are for fun.
Today - I did have therapy and will have therapy Wed and Fri but can't worry about that. Peter finished the final draft of his summer homework and Hannah is working on hers. Later we have Karate which is supposed to be a water workout in the lake. Hopefully the rain will hold off until after it is done. The kids love it and would be disappointed if they didn't get to do one this year.
Tuesday - might be back to school shopping
Wednesday is supposed to be sunny all day so that might be a lake day.
Thursday is supposed to be nice too so we might head into the City (NY) for the day. The kids have never been to the Central Park Zoo so that could be fun. We have to pick up Hannah's school supply box at her new school Thurs night too.
Friday I have an orthopedist appt in the am and then therapy in the afternoon so there goes that day.
Weekend plans
We leave for the Poconos on Saturday. Staying here. We bought a time share there years ago when Hannah was a baby. We will do the attached water park, try to go horseback riding, play mini golf and just relax. The unit is supposed to have a jacuzzi and a sauna. Works for me!
Gotta run and make the kids lunch. They are hungry little devils. Oh, speaking of food. I made the best gazpacho last night. It was a tomato-peach gazpacho. No pictures but I will try to write up the recipe. Jeff made a great tuna ceviche to go with it.
