Daybook: October 11, 2011 - started yesterday

Oct 11, 2011 16:54

Today is  - Miss Hannah's birthday!  She turns 11 today at 6:25pm.  Also turning 11 today is her birthday buddy and friend Vanessa.  She turned 11 at 3am this morning.  I know at least two other people who celebrate their birthday today too.  Weird.

Outside - it was a beautiful sunny day.  Got to walk around a bit at lunchtime while I ran errands but wish that I could have enjoyed it more as we aren't going to get many more of them.

I am reading - making up for lost time on the reading front.  I am listening to Hit List in the car.  That's an Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter novel.  On chapter six and so far so good.  Reading Broken by Kelley Armstrong.  That is part of the Women of the Otherworld series.  Also it is a signed book!  I won a contest on her webpage and got two signed books!  Whee!!! Started yet another series.  This one is the Shifters by Rachel Vincent about a pride of werecats.  Noticing a theme here?  I can't get away from my urban fantasies.  Need to reread Room by Emma Donoghue tonight for book group tomorrow but that won't be too hard - it is short and I already read it so I just need to skim it.  Took a boatload of books home from work that I need to tackle.

I am creating - not much here.  I need to organize my time better so that I can access my crafting supplies without having to move a mountain.

Around the house - we are still working on the basement but it is coming along.  Have a few things left to donate as we clean out.  Somehow I have an extra dozen glass quart size canning jars.  Anyone need any?  Jeff put up one of the Roman shades in Peter's room. It looks great and I can't wait until he gets them all up.  There are two more for Peter's room and two for Hannah's room.  Tackled laundry this weekend and got it down to manageable amount. Still need to put it all away but now most of it is washed.

Plans for the week
  • Monday was karate - love having Jeff take classes with us.  Got in some good sparring with one of the black belts.  Learning IRIDs (Identifiable Recognizable Isshinrhyu Drills).  Basically they are sparring sequences with the moves taken directly out of the katas (forms).
  • Today - aside from being Hannah's birthday, the kids have Hebrew school so I have carpool duty, then we are going to Jeff's parents for a quick birthday dinner before Jeff takes Peter to a cub scout meeting and new parent orientation.  Peter thinks he might want to go back to scouting which makes Jeff very happy.
  • Wednesday - Peter has soccer practice at  5:30, Hannah has a game at 8:15.  I am working until 9.
  • Thursday - Hannah has soccer practice
  • Friday - Peter has a soccer game and we would like to go to Temple. Soccer is at 6:00, services are at 8:00.  Should be fun.
  • Saturday - Soccer, Soccer and Hannah has a birthday party to go to.
  • Sunday - Sunday school for the kids, a Board of Trustees (Temple) for me and then apple picking and dinner with a group of friends.
Somewhere in there we would like to do a birthday dinner for Hannah just the four of us.

In the kitchen
I doubt that much gourmet cooking or any cooking will take place this week.  Too scattered and fragmented.  I can't wait for soccer season to be over so that we have our weeknights back again!
