Today
What starts out as a normal day can change dramatically. I went to class, we were learning about writing lighting cues and the purpose of the cue, or the effect. During class my phone buzzes, missed call, I recognize the number of that of my boss. This is not a good thing, the budget cuts were being announced today.
Sure enough I call her back and she tells me that my position is one of the ones being cut. All of the cuts were going to be annoucend at the staff meeting this afternoon, which I could not be at due to having worked all weekend and taking Monday and Tuesday off. I kinda of stopped hearing what she said after that, so I'm not sure when this goes into effect. It could be today, next week, or even as far out as June.
Of course the question is now, what do I do next? I have my stage management job to at least get me through my car and credit card payments. I loved my job, the people were amazing, and I'm incredibly sad to have to leave. But Maybe this is opening up a whole new thing for me. Maybe there are things I can do now that I hadn't seen as a possibility before. perhaps, there is a silver lining somewhere. I'm going to look, and I hope I find it.
