Dear Christian Right.

Please stop attempting to "return" December 25th to being a Christian holiday. Every year, there are "battles" won and lost by your faction in the name of "traditional America." Goodie, an argument. I will sound controversial. I like doing it, and this is one of the best places to rant. I won't deny that many people view Christmas as a Christian holiday meant to celebrate Jesus' birth, but there are far more extreme things that people do than simply going to church. Yes, go to church, pray, be thankful you have a savior you can look to for guidance. However, it gets annoying when people lash out at malls for putting up "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas." It gets frustrating when people attack schools for eradicating all religious influence instead of trying to cover every single religion somebody may or may not practice. By the time Christmas time has passed, I find myself absolutely frothing mad at these people. Of course, I'm just as dersive of the cowards that are so intent on remaining politically correct they can't bear to say anything that may have any sort of vague association with one religion over the other.

I think there's way more commercial focus than spiritual focus on Christmas, and I also think it's only going to perpetuate. Of course, I'd be just as unhappy with the holiday if there were an overbearing spiritual focus, so I suppose I'll never find a comfortable middle ground on Christmas.

Bill O'Reilly may not represent all Christians, just as all Christians are not "whorish lackies," but people with undeserved clout like Bill are who many people listen too, and that can lead to no good.
