The following letter was sent into the Chronicle's "Letters to the Editor."
"Editor - Regarding 'There's no disguising it - global warming's no put-on' (Insight, Oct. 9): It's time now to oppose the 'global warming theory' with the 'intelligent weather theory.' This, of course, is the notion that the recent weather disturbances can only be caused by a higher, all-knowing power. The idea that we could cause weather warming or change is patently absurd. Something of this magnitude can only be caused by the work of a higher intelligence."
This is why I hate people. Hasn't it been proven by now that a whole bunch of stupid people can accomplish something of the same degree as can just a handful of very intelligent people? And where is this misconception that global warming is still a theory coming from? Is some higher intelligence going to destroy the world's ecosystems and punish the people of the entire world for the sins of the few? Couldn't this higher intelligence just give cancer to those that displease it? Wouldn't the idea of surgical punishments be much more appetizing to a higher intelligence?
