I just got Adobe Illustrator at a Rummage Sale for 2 dollars. In box with all papers. It's awesome.
But, on a less awesome but still kind of awesome note: Border clearence their entire Art Book section, but I just caught the tail end. I missed out on some awesome art books that i've REALLY been wanting. But, I did catch Ratatouille, Princess and the Frog and Toy Story 3. :3
Speaking of, I just seen The Nine Lives of Chloe King, Kung-Fu Panda and Toy Story 3 yesterday and while I feel like I have a ton to say, I can only write a little in actuality. LOL
The Nine Lives of Chloe King
This show looks and feels like an ABC Family show. It's almost degrading. It's trying it's damndest to be targeted towards teenagers and in the process, has turned into almost a caricature of stereotypes. No offence to anyone who likes shows like this, but I feel like i'm not being taken seriously. And this is coming from someone who prefers Kid and Teen media to Adult media. The character is not relatable and has turned practically into a Bella Swan like character. We're shown no reason why, but it seems like guys everywhere will kill to be with her. FOUR in the first episode. FOUR GUYS. I mean, FFS. Her mother is practically a mary sue, her boyfriends are "Hot without Personality" and even her emotions seem out of place.
Now, don't get me wrong. I like the story. It's practically a cut-and-paste version of the Year of the Cat series, which is one of my favorite book series. HOWEVER, the characters are so unrelatable, they're practically dislikable. I'll still watch to see where it's going but... What a poor, rushed pilot.
Toy Story 3
Now, I will eventually write up one of my long Disney posts about this movie but... GAH. What the hell Pixar/Disney? WHAT IS THIS?
This thing made me feel both totally enthralled and extremely depressed at the same time. The story was good, fast paced and really full of edge of your seat stuff... For a kids movie, that is. However, the actual PLOT was so depressing it felt like someone had taken a balloon full of my favorite childhood dreams and popped it. Maybe it hit me because I grew up with this movie and this kind of represents how my life is now. Or maybe just because it is god awful depressing.
It's not a bad movie. Not in the least. But, I feel like it shouldn't have been as depressing as it was. I watch movies to escape my life, not be reminded of it.
Kung-Fu Panda
Wow, I wasn't expecting anything out of this movie and I ended up really, really, really enjoying it. Dreamworks is always good at making a very likable, goofy main character. How to Train Your Dragon really showed that and again, it's the same in this movie. I liked all the characters, although I think they didn't really go into as much detail about the other characters as they could have. They set it up for Tigress at least, but didn't follow through. :/
The graphics and designs in this are stunning. I love their use of 2D Animation to enhance the story. And I LOVE how they made the Villian show emotions and slight regret. Again, something they did well with Hiccup's dad in How to Train Your Dragon.
The only downfall was the ending. I thought it was pretty anti-climatic. But, I felt the way with How to Train Your Dragon as well. I guess I just don't like the ending to any dreamworks original animation. LOL
This movie blew my mind on how wonderful it actually is. The trailers don't do it justice AT ALL. I LOVED it. I'll actually probably buy it when I get the chance.
