Poem: Gems

Gems

I reach for you
You pull away
You let your fear blind you

Fear is red
It creeps on you like a wolf smelling a doe that’s bled
You want to leap, but your legs are dead

The red surrounds you
You’re frozen to your spot
The red smothers you
And you drown

Leaving me standing
Once was together
Is now apart

Sadness is green

I fall on my knees screaming
The green envelops me
Like a huge jade ocean

Emeralds fall from my eyes

As I see you running
Leaving rubies in your wake
