“Just with a chainsaw.” she muttered imitating (very poorly) a male voice, looking at him with her eyes narrowed.
But his smile, when he had apologized, could melt every girl's heart melt. She then regained her kind nature quite quickly.
Aoko sighed with relief, noticing that this annoying heat started to disappear from her cheeks. Geez she really shouldn't blush that much. He was just a guy.
Well true it was something in the way he was acting which made him look a bit mysterious. Like his eyes. They barely showed any emotions. Sure they seem smiling with him, while he was laughing or looked at her with polite interest when she had been speaking before. But it was just like a butterfly touch of the real emotions.
Maybe it was just carefulness towards her, the stranger, or maybe it was something more behind it. She wasn't sure right now, but she wouldn't be herself is she didn't decide to try to solve it.
But for now, she planned rather normal conversation.
“Any bad habits I should know about?” she asked before she took a bite of the food.
Reply
Bad habits, huh? How could he put that? Is stealing a bad habit? Not for him. How about taking just a small peek at girls while they were changing?
And he would have lifted her skirt by now to take a peek at her panties, but he didn't think that was a good idea. He had just moved in and he still hadn't paid for this month, so he could get easily kicked out and that wasn't a nice idea.
"Nop, none at all." He replied with a smile. "The only bad thing about me is that sometimes I have to work at night. But that's all." Let her know that for now...she'll eventually start to discover all of his bad habits later.

For all these years when Aoko had been sharing her flat with girls, she had learned that every one has at least a few bad habits. Some of them had been really annoying, other hadn't, but they had existed.
She then was sure he also had to have some. Oh... if she only knew that he was considering pros and const of peeking at her underwear, she probably would rethink the decission of allowing him to live under the same roof... especially that her weaknes was lacy underwear...
"Oh I guess I'll find them out in practice." she said cheerfully. "In my case I have to warn you that I can be easily distracted, so don't be surprised if you'll find a cup of coffe under the showe or TV remote in washing machine." Aoko laughed nervously and blushed.
"How's the food?" she changed the subject quickly.
Reply
Distraction. He needed a distraction, now.
"Uh, food is awesome!! You really are a good cook for someone who gets easily distracted." He teased. "So, does that mean I'll even find your underwear scattered all over the place? Not that I mind to find some lacy bra over the couch but I would like to be warned first." Oooh...and there was that cute blush over her cheeks. Could it be that he really enjoyed teasing this girl just to see that reaction?

But when he mentioned about that possibility, she felt her cheeks flared up.
He was a guy!
The only problem with girls was that one of them could have just mistaken Aoko's bra as her own property, but that wasn't that big problem. With a guy the things were different. Guys weren't supposed to see girls underwear, and especially if they only were roommates.
If this wasn't be possible, she would just throw him another death glare, but it had happened plenty of time before so her only reaction could be only an embarrassment.
“I try to control it and not scattered any of my clothes all over the place.” she said and added in thoughts 'Thought I'm not giving any guarantee.' “As you can see I can concentrate if I need to... after burning few pots and one chapter of the thesis everyone would be careful while cooking.” she added with a sheepish smile.
“I'm glad you like it.” her smile even broadened.
I don't know what they could talk about in here too? If you want we could skip this dinner and go to another day, or to evening... Whatever is your wish... :)

But then he saw he smiling and again that strange feeling filled his chest.
"You are welcome." He smiled back. 'Apparently things are going to get interesting if I stay here' He mentally grinned.
---------------
A week had passed since he had moved there, and he had been planning his next heist very carefully, without any inconvenience and it was due to tonight. Everything was ready.
Life with his new roommate had been interesting...very interesting...
Like one day, he got up earlier than usual and he found her leaving the bathroom while wearing only a towel...Kaito remembered with a wicked grin that her blush had been exquisite and his body was left tingling with a strong emotion...
Or the fact that the whole place and the windows had papers with formulas...that was weird at first. But then he got used to them.
Right now, he was in his room; lying down on the bed, wearing only his blue jeans while reading one of his favorites books (just a bit of relaxing time before the big show), when he heard someone knocking on his door.
"Come in." He said.

She had never had that fight with her father before. And Aoko was really happy that Kaito hadn't her her arguing by the phone with her own father, she wasn't sure how much she had been blushing if he had heard her swearing. So she was glad that she had avoided it.
It was enough that he had seen her after the shower, in towel only. Gosh, that was so embarrassing.
But she didn't say anything about the papers sticked to the windows and furnitures and she was grateful for that. It was another of her habits. It helped her with thinking, but most of her roommates were always complaining.
He wasn't.
That's why at the evening Aoko knocked on his door.
“Good evening?” she greeted him and noticed immediately that he wasn't wearing any shirt.
Aoko blushed and immediately turned her look at the floor.
“I-I'm going to make myself hot chocolate. Would you like a cup too?”
She looked at him questioningly and regretted it an instant. Another blush spread at her cheeks at the view of the man in front of her.

He quickly stood up and crossed his arms over his chest in a casual way, which in fact was to cover at least something while his eyes switched from looking at her to search for a shirt.
"Uhh...hot chocolate?" 'Shirt...shirt...' "I would love to." 'Aha! There it is, near the door.' He though, with a triumph look and walked towards the door to fetch his messy shirt. He quickly bent to grab his shirt but made one terrible, horrible, bad bad mistake while being down there...
He looked up...and Aoko was wearing a short skirt...and let's just say that she was wearing some hot lacy white panties that from his perspective looked really nice on her. Really really nice...
He just couldn't help it.
"White, huh? Very innocent."

“You baka, where are you looking?” she screamed, smacking him in his head.
And then she realized what she had just done.
“Oh... Kami... I'm sorry. I shouldn't hit you.” Aoko said looking at him with a very apologetic look.
But again her eyes lightened with an angry fire.
“But you shouldn't look at my underwear!”
A deep breath.
“I'm still inviting you for a chocolate, but please behave...”

'She hit me. And she looked quite angry too despite her apology...and her eyes, they were so...blue...'
Kaito grinned, a grin quite reserved for his heists. 'So fun...'
Kaito stood up and followed her towards the kitchen while putting on his shirt. "I'm sorry for looking at your underwear." He said, with a smile that if you looked closer it clearly said he wasn't sorry at all. "Though I must admit, I never thought you were the type to wear those kind of underwear." He snickered, sitting at the table and waiting for his hot chocolate.

She put a cup on a table with a force that it probably not broke only because of a luck. An if he had just a little decency, he would change in a pile of ashes after the death glare she sent him.
“I like these kind of underwear.” she said firmly, blushing only a little. Her anger was much stronger than her embarrassment. “You've got a problem with that?”
He was about to answer but she pushed the cup towards him with a look which was saying 'Don't even dare!' and after another sigh she added.
“Listen, I wanted to apologize, so don't make it difficult. I forgot to tell you that sometimes I stick papers all over the furnitures and windows... It happens only when I'm working at the project. You didn't say anything, so I guess it wasn't that inconvenience, but sorry that I didn't warn you.”
She smiled apologetically with only a little of the anger still present in her eyes.

And then Aoko's eyes flared up with excitement.
“But last week we were building the cloud chamber, you know a 'device' which allows us to detect particles of ionizing radiation...” she stopped and took a sip of her chocolate. “Sorry, sometimes I'm forgetting that I'm not constantly at the university. So any time I'll start to talk about my work, you better stop me before it will be too late.”
She smiled sheepishly.
Inside she was glad that he stopped the topic of her underwear, it was way too embarrassing. So in return she could be nice enough for him and not getting too much into the subject of her work. This one time...

He wondered how would that feel. Doing something because you liked to do it.
"Please don't stop." He begged her, feeling hunger to see more of that expression on her face. He grabbed his cup and sipped a bit the dark liquid, his tongue savouring the sweet flavour and his attention fixed fully on her eyes. "I would like to hear more about you. Er...I mean you work! You seem like you like it a lot, so please go on." He gave her one of his true rare smiles, he hardly gave one of those recently and he wondered how this girl could pull one of them from the layers of masks that rested on his face.

It surprised Aoko.
“You want me to talk about my work?”
He didn't look like a suicidal type.
“Don't tell me I didn't warn you.” she said still a little stunned.
She took another sip of the chocolate, and she began to talk. Her fingers were playing with the edge of the cup while she was going deeper and deeper into the subject, trying to keep it all understandable.
Her eyes again began to shine with excitement and enthusiasm.
“I have never done that complicated project with students. Wilson chamber is a bit difficult thing to build. The gas inside need to be pure and isolated. It allows to create the supersaturated environment. Any ionized particles which appears in there, is the center of condensation, just like it happens in clouds. And while it is moving, it leaves the trail. It's amazing view. In a second you can see something like a shooting star, but there are so many of them. It's... it's simply outstanding view.”
He had done it. Now Aoko was too excited to stop. She was talking faster, like she was afraid that she wouldn't have a time to explain all of it. In no time she brought a piece of paper and a pen, and she made a sketch of the Wilson chamber, explaining all of it, using the draw she made.
“My students were really excited. This was an experiment I've never done with any other group, so it could not work. And it didn't at the beginning. We needed to do it more sterile and repair a pump. You should see the faces of some professors, who saw us with screwdrivers fighting with a pump.”
Aoko didn't mention that she had been the main center of attention since she had been wearing a skirt and it had really looked funny when she had tried to use a screwdriver in the same time, trying to hold her skirt
“All of it was worth of sleepless nights. When we saw the cosmic rays, that was the best reward we could get. You could come to see it, if you want.”
She smiled to him happily and then her smile faded.
“You said you don't like to talk about your job, don't you like it?”
Reply
"Uh, well not as much as I can see you like yours." He smiled, fingers tracing softly the borders of the still hot cup between his hands. His eyes watching his hands movements, masking completely his emotions. "It's family business, so I couldn't actually choose my job, more like it's my duty to do it." Kaito barely frowned. 'Why am I saying this to her? Too dangerous...'
Kaito looked at her again and stretched his smile into a grin while giving a casual shrug, trying to light up the mood. "Guess some things can't be helped. Not everyone can do what they like."
He sipped his chocolate. "And I would love to see that experiment. I'm sure it's quite the show. Thank you Nakamori-san."
