Summer Nights
It was a typical summer movie night. Xander was due with the vids any minute and Buffy was on the phone with the way cute pizza guy.
Dawn smiled at herself in the mirror and decided against changing. Sure, she was over the 'Xander-crush' thing, but wasn't anything wrong with wanting to look pretty.
This was how it should be - just the three of them. They didn't need anyone else.
"Buffy? Dawnie? The vid-master is here!" At the sound of Xander's voice, Dawn gave one last glance in the mirror and left to go downstairs.
Everything was finally perfect.

To Still the Shaking
Clark's hand reached to grab Lex's and Lex could almost feel time slow down.
He'd been terrified, his first impulse to scream Clark's name, and like magic, strong fingers were holding him.
Clark's grasp was sure, though Lex could feel sweat. A second later, he realized that it was his.
Too soon, Clark's hand reached for a more secure hold. Lex's hand felt cold after Clark released it.
Seconds after that, Clark's hand was around Lex's back and they had to run before they could fall.
After they were safe, Lex flexed his hand.
It felt empty.
So did he.
