So, after I got over my Angel-related freakout, I could concentrate of the utter coolness of this episode. Well, the whole show is cool, but at the moment, I'm focusing on Odds.

Overall, this episode is very slashy and very much showing us the more dangerous side of Fraser. Good times.

Ray's concern for Frase was beautiful to see. And I love that even though Ray does believe Fraser when he tells Ray that he wasn't falling for Ladyshoes (aka Denny Scarpa), Ray was still concerned. Very cute. And the handholding in the alley was great.

And I love that they show us Fraser having a physical difficulty. He should be in massive pain. And he is. But he does heal remarkably quickly, considering his actions with Denny later on.

Which brings me to why I think that I can identify with Fraser right off the bat. He reminds me of Buffy. Although, of course, Buffy's power is mystical, whereas Fraser's only seems that way some of the time. Additionally, Buffy certainly couldn't do the tasting/smelling/hearing stuff that he does. Connor can though. Hmm.

But emotionally, he reminds me of the Buffster. His Mountie-mask reminds me of Buffy's Slayer mask. Protecting themselves from getting hurt. Thinking that they know best.

Of course, in the end, Fraser ends up partnering Kowalski, who is all about tearing down his barriers. And I think to myself, okay, self, who's willing to push Buffy that way? Who's willing to tell Buffy that she's pushing people away with her mask? That would be Xander. And the similarities there are probably part of the reason I fell in love with F/K from the get-go.

Back to Odds, I must say that I adored Fraser with Ladyshoes. He totally played her, but played her in a way that if he were wrong, she'd never know he'd played her in the first place. It was beautiful to watch. Reminded me of Lex with Victoria. If she hadn't betrayed him, then he couldn't have betrayed her and she never would have known about his plans.

And he was great in the 'bluff' scene. And then the slashy 'playing for air' scene with Ray at the end. How does Fraser expect Ray to pay him in air? That sends me back to Fraser giving Ray air in Mountie on the Bounty.
