Lyrics for Kris Allen (part 1)

May 18, 2012 16:12

Because I find going to lyrics sites over and over to be intensely annoying, so I'm going to park the lyrics for Kris's songs here so that I'll have them to reference in the future.

Note: I need to double-check the BNS & KATA lyrics, because I also distrust lyrics sites. Also, I need to add the lyrics for "Should I?" and the "I'm Coming Over" snippets.

Pre-Idol album: Brand New Shoes

Brand New Shoes
written by Kris Allen

These old shoes ain't gettin'
Any younger
This young mind ain't gettin' any
So don't bother
Take me around
Show me what you got back there
'Cause I got some questions
And I need you to care

I'll take your hand if you take mine
Baby I'll figure it out this time

You brought me up and you took me out
Of that place that I was in I was played by a man
You stood behind me when I was covered by that shadow of a down
I ran away when you called my name
Down that road that I know when it was dark and cold
And now I need some brand new shoes

Oh oh oh

These steps I'm climbin' are gettin'
A little steeper
This sea I'm swimmin' is gettin'
A little deeper no no

All these lovesick ghosts seems it's gettin' harder
And harder to get through no
Guess I'm gonna need a little help
From you oh
Show me the way and I'll get by
Baby I'll take a little sin oh this time

You brought me up and you took me out
Of that place that I was in that was played by a man
You stood behind me when I was covered by that shadow of a down
I ran away when you called my name
Down that road that I know when it was dark and cold
And now I need some brand new shoes

One too many times
Said I could do this on my own
Now you're in charge
Bring me back from this place that I've known

You brought me up and you took me out
Of that place that I was in that was played by a man
You stood behind me when I was covered by that shadow of a down
I ran away when you called my name
Down that road that I know when it was dark and cold
And now I need some brand new shoes
And now I need some brand new shoes
And now I need some brand new shoes

Beautiful Moon
written by Kris Allen

Oh beautiful moon
Sing me your song
Make it slow
And sweet
If you can
Oh beautiful moon
Don't worry 'bout the clouds in the sky
'Cause they'll all
Wash away
With the time
Oh

This back porch singin' praises
And when the smoke leaves
I see your faces
Oh beautiful moon

When it's dark out tonight
I thank God
For givin' you your life
Oh beautiful moon
When you're all alone
There's no stars
Where they all go
Oh

The city lights they hide your graces
And when the smoke leaves
I'll see your faces
Oh

Oh
This back porch singin' praises
And when the smoke leaves
I'll see your faces

Oh beautiful moon
Sing me your song
Make it slow
And sweet
If you can

Real World
written by Kris Allen

Strumming on my six string
Wondering what this world might bring
Little ol' me
Don't know what to tell them
I hardly know who is my friend

Late at night
I sit up and try to find the answer to it all
I think I'm going crazy
I haven't been me lately

And I'm losing my mind
Only most of the time
And I don't, don't know why

I'm stuck in this mud
With nowhere to run
And I don't know why

I keep thinking this life's not for me
What am I doing
What am I proving to someone, or anybody
Lord, I can't take this anymore
I'm getting restless
I gotta test this, oh this thing they call the real world

Been telling myself that it's alright
Everything will turn out alright
I'll just give it a little time
But that ain't working no more
I don't think it worked before

And I'm losing my mind
Only most of the time
And I don't, don't know why

I'm stuck in this mud
With nowhere to run
And I don't know why

I keep thinking this life's not for me
What am I doing
What am I proving to someone, or anybody
Lord, I can't take this anymore
I'm getting restless
I gotta test this, oh this thing they call the real world
Oh the real world
The real world

I'm getting restless
I gotta test this, oh this thing they call the real world

Be My Lady
written by Kris Allen

I've got you
Somehow you
Don't got me
You let me go
But I just can't
Set you free

These words from the eyes
The one
That I love
Mmm

I'm sorry it hurts
I don't mean to burn
It

Oh

Your eyes
They speak
To me
Like this
I'm hurting inside
No and my heart weeps
Oh darlin'
I'm sorry
But I know you're gettin' tired
Of that phrase
But it's the end of this phase

One more word to say
One more night just looking
In your face
Don't you see
My pain
Strong 'cause you're so calm
Won't you be my lady
Won't you be my lady

Say what you want
But you know we belong
Whether you want to or not
Lonely's gettin' old
I need you to hold
Let's start it all over again
Again
No

One more word to say
One more night just looking
In your face
No won't you see
My pain
Strong 'cause you're so calm
Won't you be my lady
Won't you be my lady
Oh

Running
written by Kris Allen

When you fall you're fallin' hard
And you won't know what it's gonna be
Next time you end up face down
With you head slightly under your feet
Where will you go when the door finally slumps you out
When you're feelin' a little down
And out
Runnin' from it all

Don't you get a little thought
Lookin' back over your shoulder
Baby soon you'll realize
That it's all in your head but oh no no
Does your kickin' up ever fade away
Someone will pick you up and say
That it's okay
But you're runnin' from it all

I know you think you've got me down
Maybe you just lost yourself and don't know how
It's sometimes all taken out
Won't you take it catch your breath and you'll find out
That you're runnin' from yourself
Runnin' from yourself
Oh
Runnin' from yourself

Someday you will open up
Until that day I won't give up
Until you're done
Runnin' from it all

Yeah
Oh oh
Runnin' from it all

Wastin' Time
written by Kris Allen

I'm a person that you're tryin' not to be
I'm better wastin' my time I've got down packed so easily
Some people they call me they call me lucky
Sittin' on my throne not doin' a thing

Well everybody's passin' me on this road I'm on
I gotta pack my things
Get ready to go
Send me on my way no
And if you could would you please pay my toll
'Cause I gotta get out of this place and
This wastin' time
It's gettin' old

Well I've been writin' all these verbs down and I don't know why
'Cause I got no action I got no action I got no action in my life
It's easy livin' your life doin' the things the way I do
But if you give it up you better start runnin' 'cause it'll catch up to you

Well everybody's passin' you on this road you're on
You gotta pack your things
And get ready to go
Send me on my way no
And if you could would you please pay my toll
'Cause I gotta get out of this place and
This wastin' time
Well it's gettin' old

Everybody's passin' me so damn slow they're wrong
I gotta pack my things
And get ready to go
Oh get ready to go
Get ready to go
Ah oh get ready to go
Get ready to go
Get ready to go
Get ready to go
Get ready to go
Get ready to go
Ah oh get ready to go
Yeah

Lovely
written by Kris Allen

Lovely walking to me
All dressed up for the party
She'll be talked about tomorrow
But she
Won't see the eyes
That stay
Lovely tells me she loves me
As we walk through the screen
She won't know but
There'll be songs about
The way she looks

Tonight in a gown
Crimson red and floats
Through the room as we waltz on the floor
The spotlight on her
She's lovely
Oh she's lovely
She's so lovely

The night when she's in
Lovely still dancing with her feet on the floor
You would think she could float
She looks back at me
She's ready to go
With that smile on her face
She's lovely
She's so lovely
Lovely walking with me
As we leave from the party
She has the blues
But all I can do is think
The way she looks

Tonight in a gown
Crimson red and floats
Through the room as we waltz on the floor
The spotlight on her
She's lovely
Oh
She's lovely

Tonight in a gown
Crimson red and floats
Through the room as we waltz on the floor
The spotlight on her
She's lovely
Oh she's lovely
She is lovely

On Our Way
written by Kris Allen

Sunny days come and gone away
And she has let her mind take control today
Head spinnin' round and around it goes
She looks up in the sky and wonders what she knows

She is on her way
She is on her way
On her way to make it all make sense

Sunny days come and gone away
And he is wanderin' through this life with no one to blame
Heart spinnin' round and around it goes
He's starin' at the sky lookin' for someone who knows

He is on his way
He is on his way
On his way to make it all make sense

Her mind is blowin' in the breeze
Well I've been there
I've been there
His heart it blows like a tumbleweed
Well I've been there
I've been there

Oh
I know
That you
Have questions
And oh
I know
That you
Don't know where to start and oh
Just wait
You'll see
It get's better
Don't give up
When you're on your knees
Because

You are on your way
You are on your way
On your way to make it all make sense
You are on you way
You are on you way
On your way to make it all make sense

Wipe It Away
written by Kris Allen

Drive out to see you
Been a long time
No expectations
Can't wait for her smile
Just friends this time

White dress is shinin'
She's lookin' so fine
Try to remember
This? in my mind
Now we're just friends this time

Didn't mean for the kiss to come in
Wasn't part of the script that was gave
Please forgive
Wipe it away
Wipe it away
Don't let me stay

'Cause I got nothin' for you
No promises
I'm just in your ocean
I'll give you your
Oh

Didn't mean for that kiss to come in
Wasn't part of the script that was gave
Please forgive
Wipe it away
Wipe it away
Oh

Won't you drive away
'Cause I'm no good for you
There's no place
In this place
That was built for you

Didn't mean for that kiss to come in
Wasn't part of the script that was gave
Please forgive
Mmm
Wipe it away
Wipe it away

Land of Smiles
written by Kris Allen

Charcoal eyes
Fill this night
Hope they don't see through mine
And they're telling me I've gotta leave
But I don't, I wanna stay
There's so much more for me

In the land of smiles
In the land of smiles

Familiar faces fill my mind
Pray they don't leave with the tide
And I don't think they know
Oh, just what they've done
Deep within my soul

In the land of smiles
In the land of smiles

I close my eyes and I'm there
In that place, my skin is so fair compared
And as I lay here, I'm asking my dreams
To take me back to the place that I have seen

Album #1: Kris Allen

Live Like We're Dying
written by Steve Kipner, Andrew Frampton, Danny O’Donoghue, and Mark Sheehan

Sometimes we fall down, can't get back up
We're hiding behind skin that's too tough
How come we don't say I love you enough
Till it's to late, it's not too late

Our hearts are hungry for a food that won't come
And we could make a feast from these crumbs
And we're all staring down the barrel of a gun
So if your life flashed before you,
What would you wish you would've done

Yeah, we gotta start
Looking at the hands of the time we've been given
If this is all we got and we gotta start thinking
If every second counts on a clock that's ticking
Gotta live like we're dying

We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or to throw it all away
We gotta tell them that we love them
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we're dying

And if your plane fell out of the skies
Who would you call with your last goodbye
Should be so careful who we live out our lives
So when we long for absolution,
There'll no one on the line, yeah

Yeah, we gotta start
Looking at the hands of the time we've been given
If this is all we got and we gotta start thinking
If every second counts on a clock that's ticking
Gotta live like we're dying

We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or to throw it all away
We gotta tell them that we love them
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we're dying

Like we're dying, oh, like we're dying.

We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or to throw it all away
We gotta tell them that we love them
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we're dying

You never know a good thing till it's gone
You never see a crash till it's head on
Why do we think we're right when we're dead wrong
You never know a good thing till it's gone

Yeah, we gotta start
Looking at the hands of the time we've been given
If this is all we got and we gotta start thinking
If every second counts on a clock that's ticking
Gotta live like we're dying

We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or to throw it all away
We gotta tell them that we love them
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we're dying

Like we're dying, oh, like we're dying..

We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or to throw it all away
We gotta tell them that we love them
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we're dying.

Before We Come Undone
written by Kris Allen, Lindy Robbins, and Greg Kurstin

You could break this silence with
Words we wish we'd never said
But I can hear it like a scream
What's become of you and me?
Are we still inside this night
Or am I going crazy?

I'm just trying to understand
Who I was, who I am
But you are changing just the same
So can you tell me who's to blame
Could we put our weapons down
Just to figure this out?

Now, pride is out the door
Cause I know we can make it before (make it before)
Make it before the sun breaks another day
I wait 'til you say I'm the only one
Before we come, before we come undone

If you say that it's too late
Those are words my heart can't take
And this night is out to kill
And we let it, it will
Could we both forgive somehow
Cause I'm not letting you down

Now, pride is out the door
Cause I know we can make it before (make it before)
Make it before the sun breaks another day
I wait 'til you say I'm the only one (I'm the only one)
Before we come, before we come undone

Watch out, here we go
There's no turning back you know
We can't keep going round and round
And round and round

So now pride is out the door
Cause I know we can make it before (make it before)
Make it before the sun breaks another day
I wait 'til you say I'm the only one (I'm the only one)
Before we come, before we come undone

Pride is out the door
Cause I know we can make it before (make it before)
Make it before the sun breaks another day
I wait 'til you say I'm the only one (I'm the only one)
Before we come, before we come undone

Cause I know we can make it before
Make it before we come undone

Can't Stay Away
written by Kris Allen, Lindy Robbins, and Mike Elizondo

I see you girl walking over here
Can't look away
I see you left a trail of broken hearts
On your way to me
I've tried to not let it show
But I know that you know, yeah

You break me down
Every time you make a move
Without a sound
Girl, you make me come unglued
And I don't know what you did to me
And I don't care what you got to say
Cause no matter what you do
I can't stay away from you

(Oh, uh-oh, oh, uh-oh)
I can't stay from you
(Oh, uh-oh, oh, uh-oh)

There's something about the way
You make me feel
I'm ready to confess
That you take my heart
And baby, I'm a mess
I'm done trying to deny
That without you I'll be alright

You break me down
Every time you make a move
Without a sound
Girl, you make me come unglued
And I don't know what you did to me
And I don't care what you got to say
Cause no matter what you do
I can't stay away from you

(Oh, uh-oh, oh, uh-oh)
I can't stay from you
(Oh, uh-oh, oh, uh-oh)

24 hours a day ain't nearly enough, no way
To get to know you from head to toe
You know how to captivate
Please baby, don't make me wait
I'm at your door, I need more
More, more, more, more, ohhh

You break me down
Every time you make a move
Without a sound
Girl, you make me come unglued
And I don't know what you did to me
And I don't care what you got to say
Cause no matter what you do
I can't stay away from you

(Oh, uh-oh, oh, uh-oh)
I can't stay from you
(Oh, uh-oh, oh, uh-oh)
I can't stay away from you, ohhh
(Oh, uh-oh, oh, uh-oh)

The Truth
written by Pat Monahan and Toby Gad

Lying next to you
Wishing I could disappear
Let you fall asleep
And vanish out into thin air

It's the elephant in the room
And we pretend that we don't see it
It's the avalanche that looms above our heads
And we don't believe it

Trying to be perfect
Trying not to let you down
Honesty is honestly
The hardest thing for me right now
While the floors underneath our feet
Are crumbling, the walls we built together tumbling
I still stand here holding up the roof
Cause it's easier than telling the truth

I still keep your photographs
I remember how we used to laugh
I can keep on losing sleep
If you're okay with being torn in half

It's the elephant in the room
And we pretend that we don't see it
It's the avalanche that looms above our heads
And we don't believe it

Trying to be perfect
Trying not to let you down
Honesty is honestly
The hardest thing for me right now
While the floors underneath our feet
Are crumbling, the walls we built together tumbling
I still stand here holding up the roof
Cause it's easier than telling the truth

Stop ignoring that our hearts are mourning
And let the rain come in
Stop pretending that it's not ending
And let the end begin, oh yeah...

Trying to be perfect
Trying not to let you down
Honesty is honestly
The hardest thing for me right now, yeah
While the floors underneath our feet
Are crumbling, the walls we built together tumbling
I still stand here holding up the roof
Cause it's easier than telling the truth
It's easier than telling the truth

Written All Over My Face
written by Steve Kipner, Andrew Frampton, Danny O’Donoghue, and Mark Sheehan

I always played you songs
To say what I never could
Other people say it better
Say it better than I would
But for every word left unsaid
I thought you understood

It was easier to kiss you
Than to tell you how I feel
Oh and I don't want to lose you
But you can't see that through your tears
You're saying that I hurt you
But I had no idea...

(I'm doing my best to make it
But you don't believe
Believe that I am)

Just cause you say it's so
Doesn't make it so
Singing I don't show
What I'm feeling for you
I'd rather shut my mouth
Than to spell it out
There's no doubt
When it's written all over my face

What you want me to say that I don't say?
What you want when it's written all over my face?
If you want we can talk about it all day
But what's to say when it's written all over my face?

You're not one of my boys
You can't get inside my mind
I'm not one of your girlfriends
Who's gonna see it from your side
What you lay on the table
Well I choose to keep inside

(I'm doing my best to make it
But you don't believe
Believe that I am)

Just cause you say it's so
Doesn't make it so
Singing I don't show
What I'm feeling for you
I'd rather shut my mouth
Than to spell it out
There's no doubt
When it's written all over my face

What you want me to say that I don't say?
What you want when it's written all over my face?
If you want we can talk about it all day
But what's to say when it's written all over my face?
When it's written all over my face
When it's written all over my face
When it's written all over my face

There's nothing wrong but communication
It's just a problem of our own creation
Sometimes love gets lost in translation

What you want me to say that I don't say?
What you want when it's written all over my face?
If you want we could talk about it all day
But what's to say when it's written all over my face?
All over my face
All over my face
When it's written all over my face
All over my face

There's nothing wrong but communication
It's just a problem of our own creation
Sometimes love gets lost in translation...

Bring It Back
written by Kris Allen and Francis White

Unspoken, in silence
Let's stay here tonight
There's no reason to ask me
Cause you know what's inside

Don't worry now
Seasons will change
Forgive my mouth
For not letting you walk away

Take your love, bring it back
Bring it back
Think before you leave
I forgot what love is
Bring it back
Tell me that you believe
What fate has been telling me

At sundown on the freeway
Is no place for goodbyes
Don't worry now
Seasons will change
Forgive my mouth
For not letting you walk away

Take your love, bring it back
Bring it back
Think before you leave
I forgot what love is
Bring it back
Tell me that you believe
What fate has been telling me

I've got a different ending to our story
I know it's hard for you to hear it through
But listen as I read

Take your love, bring it back
Bring it back
Think before you leave
I forgot what love is
Bring it back
Tell me that you believe
What fate has been telling me

Red Guitar
written by Kris Allen

It may not be the best one
It may not be like the rest of 'em
But she makes it sound so sweet
The melodies she makes it's saying

On her red guitar
The color never fades away
No matter where she has it placed
And my life would change when I saw
The face of her red guitar
It's been through hell

Oh, the sound it makes
It takes me to some higher place
She doesn't have a clue
Oh, that I love to listen to...

Her red guitar, yeah
The color never fades away
No matter where she has it placed
And my life would change when I saw
The face of her red guitar
Of her red guitar

She plays it soft, so only I can hear
The same old song
That she played last year
And it may not have all the strings
Oh, but she strums it beautifully

On her red guitar, yeah
Her red guitar, yeah
The color never fades away
No matter where she has it placed
And my life would change when I saw
The face of her red guitar
Of her red guitar, of her red guitar

Is It Over
written by Kris Allen, Mike Elizondo, and Cale Mills

This time you say it's for good
You've played kind
For as long as you could
With your head in hands
And your tears on my chest
I think to myself, I'm not giving up yet

And I say, is it over?
Or can I turn you around
If I crawl on my knees
To rewrite our story tonight
Would you care or are you already gone?

So take your time
As you're headed for the door
Cause I might find
The right words to say
If you give me a second more
I'm no good at goodbyes
And my pride's here to see
That I won't let you go
As you walk out on me

And I say, is it over?
Or can I turn you around
If I crawl on my knees
To rewrite our story tonight
Would you care, or are you already gone?

I wish I could make you stay,
Just like you should
So take this love, before you go
And if it's all that I am, let me ask you again
Cause I need to be sure
Is it over?
Or can I turn you around
If I crawl on my knees
To rewrite our story tonight
If I crawl on my knees, would you come back to me?
To rewrite our story tonight
Would you care, or are you already gone?
Would you care, or are you already gone?

Let It Rain
written by Kris Allen and Tobias Karlsson

So many things are trying to keep me
And so many voices trying to reach me
To tell me that this is not the way
To tell me that this is my mistake

Oh, let the rain keep falling down
Cause it won't stop me
From getting where I'm bound
Maybe I'm crazy
Maybe it's too late
But I'm gonna make it
Don't care what the skies say
So oh, let it rain
Let it rain

I know that this is not the way
That you imagined it would be
Oh, but nothing you say is gonna stop me
No matter the weather that you bring

Oh, let the rain keep falling down
Cause it won't stop me
From getting where I'm bound
Maybe I'm crazy
Maybe it's too late
But I'm gonna make it
Don't care what the skies say
So oh, let it rain
Let it rain, let it rain
Let it rain, let it rain

So many things are trying to keep me
So many voices trying to reach me

So oh, let the rain keep falling down
Cause it won't stop me
From getting where I'm bound
Maybe I'm crazy
Maybe it's too late
But I'm gonna make it
Don't care what the skies say
So oh, let it rain
Let it rain, let it rain
Let it rain, let it rain
So many things are trying to keep me...

Alright With Me
written by Kris Allen and Joe King

I'm a little pawn still in your game
And you ignore my advances
I turn my head and I look away
But I can't control my eyes are on you

Oh, you're on the run and I'm chasing you
Feels like war with all your glances
I'm just a boy without a clue
And I can't control following you

But it's alright, alright with me
It's alright, alright with me
It's alright, alright with me
It's alright, alright with me

I know you better than you know
You can fight but it's not over
I say to stop but you start to go
I guess that means it's L-O-V-E

I say to look but you turn away
I say we put our best foot forward
Will you believe, come next to me
Oh, why can't you see, I'm begging you, please

But it's alright, alright with me
It's alright, alright with me
It's alright, alright with me
It's alright, alright with me
It's alright, alright with me

(Yeah yeah yeah, yeah yeah, yeah)

And I'm knocking on your door
Baby baby, please now
Falling on your floor
Baby baby, please
I keep knocking on your door
Baby, baby, please now
Falling on your floor
Baby baby, please

But it's alright, alright with me
It's alright, alright with me
It's alright, alright with me
It's alright, alright with me

Lifetime
written by Kris Allen, Mike Elizondo, and Jon Foreman

I wake up, put my poker face on
It's roughly the same hand
I was dealt yesterday
I stand up and stare out at the skyline
It's roughly the same town
That I saw yesterday

Living doesn't come first try
It takes a lifetime getting it right
It takes a lifetime to learn how to sing
To find my place in the worlds symphony
To become the man today
The man I thought I could be

It takes a lifetime
It takes a lifetime

I wake up and bandage these scars
The scars of my heart
That prove that I'm still alive
That I'm still alive
Living doesn't come first try
It takes a lifetime getting it right

Living doesn't come first try
It takes a lifetime getting it right
It takes a lifetime to learn how to sing
To find my place in the worlds symphony
To become the man today
The man I thought I could be
The man I thought I could be

It takes a lifetime
It takes a lifetime

I Need To Know
written by Kris Allen, Lindy Robbins, and Toby Gad

Life's been blinding me
From what I thought I'd see
Is there clarity in this insanity? (yeah)
Whatcha want from me? (yeah)

Roads in front of me
Taking me astray
Are you leaving me?
Or are you leading the way?
Can you hear what I'm saying?

I need to know
I need to know
I need to know
I need to know

Feel like I'm trying to breathe under water
Trying to climb but I keep falling farther
Will you take my hand?

Feels so far away
I want to see your face
Are you even there?
Can you show me?
Can you make me believe?

I need to know
I need to know
I need to know
I need to know
I need to know

Heartless
written by Malik Yusef El Shabbaz Jones, Scott Mescudi, Kanye West, Ernest Wilson, Jeffrey Bhasker, and Benjamin McIldowie
originally performed by Kanye West

In the night
I hear 'em talk
Coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road
He lost his soul
To a woman so heartless
How could you be so heartless
Oh
How could you be so heartless

How could you be so
Cold as the winter wind when it breeze yo
Just remember that you talkin' to me though
You know need to watch the way you talkin' to me you know
I mean after all the things that we've been through
I mean after all the things we got into
And yo I know of some things that you ain't told me
And yo I did some things but that's the old me
And now you wanna get me back and you gon' show me
So you walk around like you don't know me
You got a new friend
Well I got homies
But in the end it's still so lonely

In the night
I hear 'em talk
The coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road
He lost his soul
To a woman so heartless
How could you be so heartless
Oh
How could you be so heartless

How could be so Dr. Evil
You're bringin' out a side of me that I dont know
I decided we weren't gon' speak so
Why we up 3 A.M. on the phone
Why does she be so mad at me fo'
Homie I dont know she's hot and cold
I won't stop I won't mess my groove up
'Cause I already know how this thing go
You run and tell your friends that you're leaving me
They say that they don't see what you see in me
You wait a couple months then you gon' see
You'll never find nobody better than
Me

'Cause in the night
I hear 'em talk
The coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road
He lost his soul
To a woman so heartless
How could you be so heartless
Oh
How could you be so heartless

Talk and talk and talk and talk
Baby let's just knock it off
They don't know what we been through
They don't know 'bout me and you
So I got something new to see
And you just gon' keep hatin' me
And we just gon' be enemies
I know you can't believe
I could just leave it wrong
And you can't make it right
I'm gon' take off tonight
Into the night

In the night
I hear 'em talk
The coldest story ever told
Somewhere far far far he lost his soul
To a woman so heartless
Oh
How could you be so heartless
Oh
How could you be so heartless
Oh

'Cause in the night
I hear 'em talk
The coldest story ever told
Somewhere far along this road
He lost his soul
To a woman so heartless

Send Me All Your Angels
written by Kris Allen, Chris Daughtry, and Mike Elizondo

What am I gonna do tonight
When I’m one step closer to the other side
It’s easy to pretend
Tryin' hard not to fade away
But the world’s got me feeling so out of place
How will all this end?
It’s so hard to say

Send me all your angels tonight
I’m barely hanging on the edge of lonely
Trying to turn this all around before I
Hit the ground and end up face down
Send me all your angels, now

Everyday, gotta face the fact that
I’m trying to reason with the demons on my back
And I’m hoping to hold on
Don’t wanna make friends tonight
With the faces, with the faces
Not this time
When will all this end?
Just give me a sign

Send me all your angels tonight
I’m barely hanging on the edge of lonely
Trying to turn this all around before I
Hit the ground and end up face down
Send me all your angels, now

Better days are sure to come
I don’t wanna come undone
So show me what I’m living for, yeah

Send me all your angels tonight
I’m barely hanging on the edge of lonely
Trying to turn this all around before I
Hit the ground and end up face down
Send me all your angels, now
Send me all your angels now
Send me all your angels, now
Oh, ooh

What am I gonna do tonight
When I’m one step closer to the other side

From the Ashes
written by Kris Allen, Lindy Robbins, and Toby Gad

I hate it when the light goes from your eyes
And there's nothing I can say to make it better
If it's true love that's keeping us alive
Could we find a way to fight this war together?

Time falls like sand
Watch it fallin'
Right through our hands

Could we be most afraid of what will save us
Breakdown to find out what we're really made of
If we're standing on the edge
Hold on when it crashes
Could we rise up from the ashes

It's crazy after everything we've planned
How it feels like we are never gonna get there
Standing on the bridge, watching it burn
No more yesterday tomorrow's all that matters

Time falls like sand
Watch it fallin'
Right through our hands, yeah

Could we be most afraid of what will save us
Breakdown to find out what we're really made of
If we're standing on the edge
Hold on when it crashes
Could we rise up from the ashes

You just said you lost your way
Like you've forgotten how to dream awake
But I know you (I know you)
But I know you

And I know you
Don't be scared, just close your eyes
We don't ever have to say goodbye
Well it's alright, it's alright

Could we be most afraid of what will save us
Breakdown to find out what we're really made of
If we're standing on the edge
Hold on when it crashes
Could we rise up from the ashes
