fauxkaren gave me: Buffy, Doctor Who, The Vampire Diaries and Angel the Series.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
In both cases, it's about who I'm identifying with the most. In the first few seasons, Buffy was a little too much gorgeous-untouchable-goddess for me to identify with - I loved her but there was a slight distance there. Xander was my favorite and, like him, I had a crush on Buffy. Beginning in S5 and then really very much in S6, Buffy came off her pedestal for me and I could love her more one-on-one, depressed girl-to-depressed girl.
Doctor Who
I will love her forever. ♥
Rose might actually be my favorite character out of all the fictional characters that exist. I even love her flaws. I love how real and grounded as a character she feels. I love the growth she goes through for all of the seasons she appears in - I even love that she gets both a happy and an unhappy ending, because I like that her ending is just as complicated as she is. I love her huge smile and how much she loves adventure and helping people and the Doctor.
The Vampire Diaries
The way that I know Elena is my favorite is that even when she's frustrating me, I adore her. I may want to throw a pillow at her at times, but the feelings mostly stem from me wanting her to live and her not really caring all that much (or, you know, not as much as I do). And I love her as a big sister - I think she's such an awesome big sister.
Angel: the series
Book-focused people who had to learn how to do practical things under tough conditions - Wesley and Fred had a lot in common. I never thought that I would love Wesley as much as I do, because of how much I loved Doyle (who was the reason that I kept watching Angel after the pilot, as Cordy and Angel were not two of my favorite characters by any means), but by the time he died in the finale, Wesley just had so much of my heart. I loved Fred because of her heart and her brilliant mind and because of how much she was able and willing to adapt under nearly-unbearable circumstances. Hers is another death that ripped my heart out.
