Day Day Twelve: Favorite female character in a movie

There aren't nearly enough coming-of-age stories for female characters. But Labyrinth does exist and it (and Sarah) are wonderful. Sarah starts out the story as a girl, concerned with whether or not the world is fair to her without taking into account that the world is and that people have to go on in it regardless of fairness. She learns how to navigate in a dangerous world, complete with pitfalls and backsliding. And she learns how to take her destiny in her own hands, rather than sitting around talking about how unfair everyone is being to her.

Day Thirteen: Favorite female character in a book

Pure, undiluted awesome. Granny is tough and savvy, but able to play other people really well. She actually reminds me a lot of my maternal grandmother.

Day Fourteen: Favorite older female character

June is fantastic. I love that she sees Neal for who/what he is right in the first episode and I love the glimpses we've gotten of her past. Very glamorous and cool lady.

Day Fifteen: Favorite female character growth arc

Martha Jones and I have had quite a ride. I started out loving her, got frustrated with her at various points in S3 and loved her at others, adored her in the S3 finale, and then it's been all love since that point. Martha learned a lot about the world and herself during her time with the Doctor. She learned how stories could be valuable and dangerous. She learned how awesome she could be as just herself. She kept getting more fantastic each time she returned to the show and you can't really ask for more than that.

Day Eight: Day Sixteen: Favorite mother character

Ah, Sarah. I adore her. She's so fierce and determined in her motherhood. A lot of mothers we only get to see in the early 'protect infant' stages, but with Sarah, we get to see the process of John growing up and becoming someone apart from his mother and her protection, and the growth and change of the relationship is really great.

Day Seventeen: Favorite warrior female character

Teyla starts out awesome (leader of her people, kickass fighter, basically guide to the Pegasus galaxy) and she stays pretty damn awesome. She's clever and tough and generally amazing. I love the way she deals with trying to balance between her people and between Atlantis and how balanced she manages to stay.
