American Idol: Top 11 (Take Two)

Mar 30, 2011 21:57

Ryan got his hair cut!

Jimmy Iovine is starting to get on my nerves.

1. Scotty McCreery - Country Comfort

Scotty never lets the producers roll over him. He always pushes back. I kinda like that. Bringing out a guitar, seems to cut down on his mannerisms (which can get over the top). Such a great, resonant voice. Scotty knows what he was to do and he's not deviating from it. There's enough variation in the classic country sound that he's doing that I haven't gotten bored with it. I think Scotty will continue to be just fine in the competition (and beyond).

2. Naima Adedapo - I’m Still Standing

I like that she does new and interesting things. But I'm not sure why she's putting on a fake accent? She was on pitch, so that's good.

3. Paul McDonald - Rocket Man

Yeah, using the guitar really grounds Paul. Ha, I love the outfit; perfect for the week. Liked the performance.

4. Pia Toscano - Don’t Let the Sun Go Down On Me

That red dress (in the behind-the-scenes stuff) is gorgeous on her curves, but what's up with the weird shoulder-pad?

Didn't Pia promise a non-ballad 'for next week' last week, too?

So, Pia does her Pia ballad-thing. It's... good but, you know... yeah. It's Pia doing a ballad. I agree with the judges that I'd like her to surprise us.

5. Stefano Langone - Tiny Dancer

Something about this song makes it hard for me to take it seriously. I'll try to get past that. It didn't suck, but it could have been better.

6. Lauren Alaina - Candle in the Wind

Why does she keep looking up at the ceiling during her song? That's weird. Not Lauren's best performance. Is Steven flirting with her? Ew, stop, Steven. She's sixteen, dude. Stop.

7. James Durbin - Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting

Jimmy made James change his song last week? Hmm.

Very energetic. Very much a performance. Piano on fire! Going out of the audience! Big ending! Showing off his flexibility! Really good job.

8. Thia Megia - Daniel

I think she did a good job with that one. I think she's got a gorgeous voice. Is Randy reading from a script on his review of her?

9. Casey Abrams - Your Song

I'm so glad that Casey pulled it back this week. No shouting; no scaring the camera. And he can sing. I love this song, too, and I think he did a great job. Beautiful.

10. Jacob Lusk - Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word

Enjoyed him this week. I don't know what that red thing on his shirt is, but I like it.

11. Haley Reinhart - Bennie and the Jets

She did a fantastic job! Loved the start on the piano, loved the build, loved the pay-off. She did wonderful, and loved her voice as always. Amazing tonight.

Favorites: Scotty, James, Casey, Haley.

So, I'm still feeling like it's going to end up being Scotty vs James, unless one of them stumbles hard. I really feel like Scotty will be in the final two.

Who might go home: Thia, maybe Stefano. Oh, it's two this week. Hmm. Then Thia and Stefano, maybe.
