I can't help it I like Lacey (even if I can admit that she kinda sucked tonight), but I also think that Siobhan (other than the last few notes) was awful.
I agree she has stage presence, but other than the final notes, she just did not sound good. She has a lovely voice, but she needs to stay away from the lower register, but she keeps going there, and it just doesn't work for her. Clearly, Siobhan IS the polarizing performer this season because it really seems to be "oh, she was brilliant!/oh, she was awful!" with her. You fall into the former, I, the latter.
OTOH, I will admit that I'm actually enjoying Adam Lambert's CD. So I've relented on him, still hate most of his AI performances, but I like the CD.
Yeah, I agree that she's probably the most polarizing contestant. My mom adores her, compared her to Barbra Streisand and called her the best of the night. I don't go quite that far, but I do really like her voice.
I usually don't watch this show very much, but was visiting my parents so watched with my mom. As a Stones fan, found some of the choices interesting.
Lacey was bad, but not in a way that bothered me. I mean, she overdoes the notes and the singing - though I kind of expect people to over-ornament songs on this stage. But she was just kind of garden variety bad.
I actually disliked Tim more. He wasn't very good, and worse - he totally misread the song. Why he even chose that, of all the songs, I don't know. "Under My Thumb" is a dark and misogynistic, most famous for being the song they were playing while a fan got murdered at Altamont. I don't expect any of these performers to capture the leering snideness that so many Stones songs have - but they have hundreds of songs and if you're going to pick one of their more notorious hits, you ought to bring something specific to the song. He could have done any song in a reggae style - why that one? Just stupid...
Tim kinda fades into this white noise for me when he performs, while Lacey actively annoyed me. But, yeah, when I actually think about the song and... attempt to remember how he sounded performing it, you're quite correct.

And I think Katie is prety much on her level too, and Tim isn't the best and I doubt we will ever be but he gets better each episode.

I hate Lee's bizarre chin-neck beard thing, but I really like his voice. Casey is probably the most consistently good of the guys.
