*Not* Doctor Who Stuff: SDoaCG, Dexter, Sarah Connor, Merlin

Because I just realized that it's been just about a month since I talked about anything else.

In the category of 'personal life': I had my birthday three-ish weeks ago, am having some emotional difficulties that are making school complicated and, right now, it's snowing a lot.

If you watched my recent trailer, you might have guessed this, but I finally got around to watching series two of Secret Diary of a Call Girl: I adored it. They introduced Bambi, who got to have character growth and be a real friend to Hannah (I'm so glad that she has a good female friend -- not that I don't adore Ben). It was interesting to watch and peg the 'hiding the pregnancy' scenes with Hannah/Belle. Billie did a fabulous job, as always, and had crackerjack chemistry with Alex and still with Ben and just all-around. I don't think that I've yet seen her have a failure of chemistry with anyone that she's been partnered with.

I like the way the Alex story ended -- with him actually understanding that this is who Hannah is. She can't just turn off Belle and be with him. "It's like a light went out in you," he says. But he can't be the guy for her because, while he can understand that's who she is, it's not who he is. I wanted to hug Hannah like, a milllion times throughout the whole relationship.

I started watching S3 of Dexter (I know!) and I've now seen the first two episodes: I have to say, I'm finding Dexter and Miguel's interactions to be very slashy. I know that he's... clinging a bit because he thinks that Dexter understands his grief and now they're likely to have bonding over their shared murder secret, but... slashy.

I love Rita and her reactions to finding out that she's pregnant. She's such a great character. I really love that Deb currently has a storyline that has nothing to do with romance (unless we find out that Yuki (the Internal Affairs lady) is very like Deb's mom and Deb and Yuki start dating, which may very well happen, considering the S1: brother substitute is dated and S2: dad substitute is dated). I really like Yuki so far.

I'm caught up with The Sarah Connor Chronicles: I really adore this show. I just... really love everything about it and in a sort of uncomplicated way. Sarah kicks ass. My favorite 'relationship' remains the Sarah & John bond, which I'm enjoying watching change and develop (one of the things that makes me sad about the fandom is that, in my few checks through, it seems dominated by Cameron-related 'shipping, which I don't have any interest in).

I've been getting more and more interested in Jesse as time has gone by and the reveal that Riley, too, is from the future made me much more interested in her. I love that Ellison is alive and isn't actually working with the Connors but is still a good guy. It's understandable why he would pick Weaver over Sarah and I like that. It's a complicated moral universe and I really appreciate that.

I watched the S1 run of Merlin (with, in case there is anyone who doesn't know, Anthony Head (Giles!) as Uther Pendragon): Which has just been a pile of giddy squee. There's the slashy boyish goodness of Merlin and Arther. There's the femslashy goodness of Morgana/Gwen. There's the vaguely emotional incesty Morgana/Uther relationship.

There is was Nimue, who was utterly gorgeous and awesome (*holds out hope that she isn't really dead*).

There's the whole 'keep the magic secret' thing, which, as others have pointed out, makes Merlin seem even more (closeted) gay than he would otherwise. There's the fact that People (including dragons) Have Agendas -- twice Gaius basically picked Merlin's life over Uther's, which is fascinating.

Anyway, lots of fun, very glad that it's coming back.

I also need to start watching S2 of The Sarah Jane Adventures. I'm going to try to do that before school starts up again.
