This would be what I was working on instead of writing a review for AoL/WW3.

Story Title: Universal Realignment
Author: butterfly
Summary: The Doctor takes Martha and Jack for a trip before the final scenes of "Last of the Time Lords".
Pairing: Oh, the same as the show -- implied emotionally requited Doctor/Rose; light amounts of unrequited Doctor/other ( Read more... )

Ooh, I am actually rather excited to see this fic. I do like reading Martha and Jack type stuff, as well as adventure stuff, but so often I worry I can't trust anyone to respect Rose's place in his life!

Anyway, interesting plot so far. Poor Doctor - his past with this civilisation is nicely done.

I utterly cracked up at the Doctor noticing (at last) Martha in a skirt - so brilliantly him. As was the internal monologue about Jack's preferences!

And I am kind of amused by his complete and utter obliviousness to Martha. I mean, you can tell that he thinks she's brilliant, but he's got no idea. And I can believe that even after the year, she's still feeling for him because she hasn't had a chance to break free yet.

Nice interaction between the three!

I feel the same way about reading non-D/R fic. Because Rose remains important in his life even when she isn't there. She had an impact. This is a large part of why I rarely read non-shipper fic set post-Rose. I do not trust it to remember how much she matters to the Doctor.

Well, you know, he didn't already have enough angst, so I figured he needed to watch another civilisation kill itself (and thank you).

This entire fic is, in fact, shamelessly self-indulgent. I found the Martha-Jack-Doctor interaction fascinating, but have not really seen many fics that explore where ( ... )

Ohh, I like what you have so far! I love the trio's interaction, as well as the Doctor's internal musings.

Jack deserved more of an explanation than the Doctor had been able to give him… or at least a better reason why the Doctor couldn’t tell him more.

Looking forward to more of this. =)

Thank you! I'm so glad that the story is working for you.

And the story will definitely be going more into the Jack stuff later.

"...and they can paralyse you with a glance.”

“What?”

“Didn’t I mention that?”

LOL!

I really like the set-up to the entire fic here (I have already read it but I'm doing another read through).

I love how oblivious the Doctor is regarding Martha, he sees her as just being brilliant but not noting that she has a major crush on him. I'm a bit worried though that the obliviousness of the Doctor has rubbed off on my because the bit where Jack looks a bit angry - I can't quite figure out why? Is it something the Doctor said or the way he said it?

Ooo! Thank you. I'd love to know what you think of the rest of it, the second time around.

It's more about Martha's reaction -- Jack can see how affected she is by the Doctor's words and he's miffed on her behalf because he knows that the Doctor doesn't feel that way about her.
