I, like many Buffy fans, have seen the cover for the second issue of what is apparently going to be 'season eight' of Buffy. Except, you know, in comics. Without Sarah Michelle Geller. I'm still on the fence. I'm not a big comic book reader, and NZ is a bit out of the way so I don't even know if/when/how they'll released them here. Mostly, though, I felt like the end of s7 was a good ending place. To tack more stuff onto it in the guise of canon seems pretty contrived.

I really do agree with you on that -- season seven ended by destroying the 'one girl' burden that Buffy had railed against since the first season and anything else will feel like a later epilogue and not part of the original story.

I'll buy anything Joss does, so I'm looking forward to this. But I agree on the canon issue, and I rather suspect that Joss does too. We know he's pro-fanfic, and I doubt he'd feel that his virtual season eight should diminish the work of his fans.

True and a very good point. Joss is well-aware of the value of his fan base, and of their dedication and talent.
