Song of the Week

I have a new song of the week for y'all!!!!!!!!!

Last week sometime I was going through the Music Sundays blog, listening to the songs via YouTube videos that Moon_Witche so kindly included, and one of the songs was "The Minnow and the Trout" by A Fine Frenzy. I had heard of this group because I had a song of theirs I liked ("Rangers") that came with a fanmix. Soooo, I listen to this song, and I LOVE it. It sticks in my head, I catch myself singing it randomly and constantly, and it just won't LEAVE ME ALONE!

So I decide that if I like two songs by Fine Frenzy, I will probably like their other ones. BOY DID I. Oh. My. Edward. I haven't loved a group this much since I found The Fray. And that's saying a lot. I could go on and on about the folk-music sound and the soulful lyrics and the heart-wrenching delivery of each and every song.

One song (barely) stood out from among the rest: "Almost Lover". This song . . . . . . . . . . . . . floors me. Alison Sudol sings this song especially with such beauty and TRUTH. She has surely suffered heartbreak in her life. There is no other way she could come out with a song like this. "Ashes and Wine" is a song that goes very closely with "Almost Lover". The lyrics are different, the concept is similar, but the feeling is identical. Now, I don't mean to say they're the same song. They're not. They're very different and stand alone fine. But together . . . . . . . . magic. Personally, I like the verses of "Almost Lover" and the chorus of "Ashes and Wine" best.

I bow to the amazing awesomness of Alison Sudol. I really do. I would be honored to have her autograph. The warmth, depth, and power of her voice is truly one of the most spectacular things I have ever heard.

ANYWAYS, all the songs on "One Cell in the Sea" (the only album by A Fine Frenzy that has been released) are very very good and simply dazzling. Yes, I used the 'dazzling'. I bought the album the day after I listened to the songs and spent $13.95 at Hastings on it. The best almost $14 I have ever spent.

GO CHECK OUT 'A FINE FRENZY' RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lyrics:

Your fingertips across my skin
The palm trees swaying in the wind
Images
You sang me Spanish lullabies
The sweetest sadness in your eyes
Clever trick

Well, I never want to see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
Should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

We walked along a crowded street
You took my hand and danced with me
Images
And when you left, you kissed my lips
You told me you would never, never forget
These images

No

Well, I'd never want to see you unhappy
I thought you'd want the same for me

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
Should've known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do

I cannot go to the ocean
I cannot drive the streets at night
I cannot wake up in the morning
Without you on my mind
So you're gone and I'm haunted
And I bet you are just fine

Did I make it that
Easy to walk right in and out
Of my life?

Goodbye, my almost lover
Goodbye, my hopeless dream
I'm trying not to think about you
Can't you just let me be?
So long, my luckless romance
My back is turned on you
Should have known you'd bring me heartache
Almost lovers always do
