If you wish to make a striped hat, alternate colors each row and carry the opposite color up the inside of the hat so you have less ends to weave in.

Use size H crochet hook and WW #4 yarn
Size-Newborn
Start with the Magic circle
Rnd 1) 11 DC into magic circle. Join with ss. ch 2 (11)
Rnd 2) 2 DC in each stitch around. Join with ss. ch 2 ( 22)
Rnd 3) 2 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in next, around. Join with ss. ch 2 ( 33)
Rnd 4) 2 DC in same stitch, 1 DC in each of next 2 stitches-around. Join with ss. ch 2 ( 44)
Rnd 5-8 1 DC in each stitch around. Join with ss. ch 2
Rnd 9) Skip same stitch HDC in next stitch, ch1, skip next st, HDC in next-around. Join with ss. ch 1 (44)
Rnd 10) Change color if desired. 1 SC in each stitch around. Join with ss. ch 2
Rnd 11) Begin scallop-Skip first two stitches, 5 DC in next stitch, skip 2 stitches, 1 sc in next stitch around. (7 scallops)
FO weave in ends with tapestry needle
In round 9 we made little holes for our ribbon. Lace ribbon or tulle through these holes and tie a bow.
Ways to make enlargements to a pattern:
- use the same yarn just a bigger hook
-use double strands of yarn
-increase the height of the stitches- example: use double crochet where single is called for
