happy to be at work. Don’t get me wrong, I love my friends. I had a great time this past week and a half. But I’m done entertaining for at least 2 months. Utter exhaustion, broke from eating almost every meal out (Trev and I actually got excited b/c one night we got to eat a frozen pizza), don’t care to have another smoke or drink for a long time, ate horribly and need to get back to eating better, and lastly we are still trying to get Vega to readjust. Last week messed with her routine and now she seems depressed all the time. BUT, I’m still not complaining about anything that happened last week. It was fun; it just sucks that I’m getting old.
Bailing on a $20 debt was not worth losing the ability to say goodbye. I don’t know what’s going on with you.
I golfed a whole game. I really suck and as usual got really frustrated. But I believe I’d try it again. But I’d prefer to continue practicing at the driving range for a long time. I really like hanging out with Trev and Jenny. Good people.
Realized that Shawn is the master pillow fluffer and he can stay at our place anytime (I guess Julie could come too). Jules, your man could sell his fluffing skills. Our couch feels as good as the day we bought it.
New Year’s dinner turned out really good. I enjoyed our party. Everyone seemed really comfortable and seemed to have a really nice time.
Train ride to New Orleans proved to be stressful. Thought we could buy alcohol on the train and smoke in designated cars. But no, can’t by alcohol on a Sunday and smoking was banned on all cars this past Nov, and all the stops are only 2 minutes long. So by the time you wait for new people to get on the train and you finally get off, the whistle is blowing for all aboard. Had we known this before hand, I think the trip would have been more enjoyable. Secondly, next time bring your own alcohol. They don’t even check your bags. Oh yeah, and bring games. There’s a car with tables in it. 7 hours is a long time. My mom was about to get on my last nerve. She was literally freaking out from not being able to smoke. God I never want to get to that point.
New Orleans was fun. Enjoyed hanging out with my folks and Amber and Keith. Walking Bourbon Street was different this time. I didn’t get carded like last time (of course I was only 19 back then). Bathrooms are awful, even in the restaurant you pay to eat dinner in. I mentioned it to the hostess and she looked at me with this, “duh, this IS New Orleans.” Trevor walked over to a cop and started asking about his motorcycle. Scared the crap out of me. Thoughts of “we don’t have enough money in our checking for me to bail him out” crossed my mind. We walked by some cops on horses and I was getting mad that all these people were petting the horses. I kinda looked at it like you would if you saw a seeing eye dog with someone. They’re on duty and shouldn’t be distracted. But as I walked by the horse he bent his nose down to the perfect level so I could pet him. How could I resist? So I’m a hypocrite. I wore sandals on Bourbon Street; everyone said I was so brave. Had to wash those puppies before they could get in bed.
Monday we ate breakfast at the best place. I think it was in the gay district, but we didn’t care. The food was terrific and the waiter was sooooo nice. I wish every dining experience was that enjoyable. Walked around the market and saw a street act. Those Virginia Tech fans are sneaky. Their colors are maroon and orange, so a lot of them were wearing orange. New Orleans was covered in Sugar Bowl fans. It was really awesome. We made it to Tiger walk, but my step dad has a problem protecting my mom, and before we knew it, we had lost her. So then we had to spend 30-40 minutes trying to find a short woman in orange. Not an easy task. So we finally move closer to the stadium only to be separated again. I believe Trev stood in line for 40-50 minutes. Crazy.
We got into the stadium and realized our nosebleed seats were really good. We were kinda sitting over the field so we saw everything in the game perfectly. War Damn Eagle! Only wish Auburn hadn't slacked off in the second half. Half time show was pretty lame in my opinion. That was a shame b/c I know they can’t ever show the half time show on TV b/c of copyrights royalties. So I was looking forward to this grandiose show and got local high school students in pirate costumes. Oh well. It was great being at the first game to ever let Auburn go 13-0. Too bad I was so exhausted after the game. I had given very ounce of energy I had until the end of that game. I called it quits and stated I couldn’t party anymore. Trev refused to go out without me so we picked up a Domino’s pizza and went back to the hotel room.
Everyone was sleeping on the train ride home. Did I happen to mention the whole train was Auburn fans? Well it was. Pretty cool.
Now I’m home. Happy to get to sleep and cook our own meals again. Happy to be at work and know I can go home at 5 and not worry about anything. Yay. Hope everyone had happy holidays.
