Character name: Nunnally vi Britannia
Fandom: Code Geass
Timeline: The final episode of season 2, at the very end
Age: 15
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: Nunnally is neither magically nor physically skilled. She is as she appears to be, a crippled but otherwise normal, healthy, young woman. Her strengths lie entirely in her compassion and her strength of will. Having been rendered unable to walk or see at a very young age, placing her at the mercy of all, she cultivated kindness, and developed a strong will for peace.
Though it is somewhat implied in the final episode that Nunnally understood the reasoning behind Lelouch's actions which led up to his death only after she touched him, I don't believe it's an actual magical ability so much as a deep human understanding that allows her to see past certain masks, most likely a remnant from her blinded days where touch was the main sensory input she had in dealing with and seeing into other people.
How would they use their abilities?: Nunnally would only ever use her abilities, such as they are, to advocate peace and understanding, equality and love. It is possible for her to use her abilities to the point that she might neglect her own needs in her pursuit of aiding others.
Appearance: Nunnally is a thin young woman with wavy, waist-length light brown hair and large violet eyes. She is probably of average height, however due to her disability, she is forever bound to her wheelchair. She tends to wear her hair down.
Her clothes are very feminine, with bows and frills befitting a young princess. Her dresses tend to be pink.
Background/Personality: Nunnally is the second child of Emperor Charles zi Britannia and Empress Marianne vi Britannia, a common-born woman. As the 11th Princess of Britannia, Nunnally's childhood began in the sheltered world of the palaces, where she lived with her brother Lelouch and their mother. This world was shattered when her mother was assassinated right before her eyes. The four-year-old princess lost the use of her legs at that time due to injures, and her sight due to the trauma. Lelouch confronted their father after this event, accusing him of failure to protect Marianne and Nunnally. The Emperor exiled Lelouch and Nunnally to Japan, claiming they had no value to him other than as political pawns.
They were sent to live with the prime minister Kururugi Genbu, where they met and became friends with his son Suzaku. During this time, Nunnally overcame some of the extreme stress and trauma of her mother's violent death and found happiness living with Suzaku and Lelouch. But when relations between Japan and the Holy Britannian Empire turned sour and Japan was invaded, her happiness was once again destroyed. Presumed dead, Lelouch and Nunnally found refuge with the Ashford family, a Britannian family that had supported the Empress Marianne and lived in Japan, newly designated "Area 11". The pair assumed a new surname -that of Lamperouge- and lived in a building on the Ashford Academy campus.
Nunnally led a quiet life at Ashford Academy, happy to be living safely with her older brother. A woman named Sayako joined their household, and took care of Nunnally, while also teaching her about Japan prior to its colonization. Nunnally made friends with Milly Ashford, a member of the Ashford family and one of the few people to know Lelouch and Nunnally's true identities. As Lelouch was part of the student council, Nunnally got to know the other members (Shirley, Rivalz, and Nina), as well. Up until she was fourteen, she led a peaceful and happy existence with her friends and family.
But then Lelouch started acting strange. He was gone more often, and was more secretive. Though he did his best to hide the change from her, Nunnally sensed there was something going on, especially when C.C. moved in one day. And it wasn't just her home life that was changing; a terrorist group emerged, called the Black Knights and led by a man who went by Zero. Politically, much was happening in the world, though Nunnally only heard about it through the news programs and what little others would share with her. Her half-brother Clovis, who had been governing Area 11, was assassinated; her half-sisters Cornelia and Euphemia replaced him. Suzaku Kururugi, their long-ago friend, was suddenly transferred into Ashford Academy, and was later made Euphiemia's knight. All of this went on around her, but other than restore an old friend to her side, it little affected Nunnally's daily life.
At the school festival, Nunnally got a chance to meet with Princess Euphemia, who had secretly visited for just that purpose (unbeknownst to Nunnally, Euphemia had met with Lelouch prior to then, and knew of their survival). Later on, at the festival, Euphemia announced her plan to open an area where "Elevens" could reclaim their identity as Japanese. But something went wrong at the opening of the Special Administrative Region, and Euphemia ended up dying. A massacre of the Japanese had taken place, supposedly led by Euphemia, who would later be known as the "Massacre Princess"; Nunnally, however, refuses to believe she was responsible for it.
Soon after the massacre at the SAR, a battle (later known as the Black Rebellion) broke out between the Britannian forces and the Black Knights; the academy was taken over by the rebels. Nunnally was trapped with Milly, Shirley, and Rivalz when Zero lured Suzaku into a trap outside. While the terrorists were distracted after their leader, Ougi, was shot, Nunnally encouraged the others to rescue Suzaku, their only hope against the Black Knights. While they were gone, Nunnally was kidnapped.
She was taken back home, to Britannia, where she was reestablished as a princess. For a year she was kept away from Area 11; after the Black Rebellion failed, her brother's whereabouts were kept from her, and she was generally led to believe he was lost. When the terrorist Zero resurfaced (he had been presumed dead following the failed rebellion) and killed the current governor of the Area, Nunnally volunteered to fill the position. Soon before she left for Area 11, Suzaku (who had since been promoted to the prestigious Knights of Round for the capture of Zero) got her in touch with Lelouch, who was still attending Ashford Academy. During their brief conversation, Lelouch told her some confusing things, mainly that he had to pretend he did not know her. Not understanding, she went along with him nonetheless.
While en route to Area 11, her airship was attacked by the Black Knights, and Zero confronted her. Believing he had come to kill her, as he had her other royal siblings, she begged him to reconsider, and extended the offer to reopen the SAR of Japan, with his cooperation. Before he could respond, Suzaku arrived and took her away; the ship had been damaged and was seconds away from crashing into the ocean.
In her first speech to Area 11 as its new governor, Nunnally made public her wish to start over with the SAR, and requested the Black Knights to join her, veering off-script much to the surprise of her counsel. From that point on, Nunnally did not deal directly in the negotiations with Zero, but was informed that it had been decided only Zero would be exiled from the country, for his crimes were too high to pardon. On the day of the opening ceremony for the SAR, Zero's exile was announced; the million-plus people that had gathered all took on the garb of Zero, and they were all exiled.
The exiled Japanese, which included all of Zero's Black Knights, took refuge in the Chinese Federation, and so not much is known of Nunnally's goings-on during that time (as the terrorists waging most of the major conflict in the area had left, one must imagine that period of time was relatively peaceful, especially compared to what was going on elsewhere in the world at the time). The Black Knights got into conflict in China, and during that time, Kallen Kouzuki, a former member of the student council at Ashford Academy and the ace pilot of the Black Knights, was captured and placed under Suzaku's command. Nunnally therefore got a chance to speak with the prisoner about mutual old friends neither of them had seen in a while; Nunnally had been forbidden contact with her friends at Ashford Academy (their memories had been rewritten, so they would not have remembered her anyhow).
Following the conflict in China, several nations formed the United Federation of Nations, effectively giving up their own armies and placing all military power with the Black Knights, whose first act under the orders of the UFN is to liberate Japan. Zero manages to invade Tokyo, during which Sayoko (who had since joined the rebellion) and Rolo, a Black Knights soldier and, although this was unknown to Nunnally, Lelouch's fake brother, were sent to retrieve her. However, during the battle, Suzaku utilizes a new weapon called F.L.E.I.J.A, which causes immense damage and supposedly kills Nunnally and those with her.
Nunnally did not die, however; Prince Schneizel rescued her and Sayoko in an alternate transport. Once Lelouch, who had been Zero all that time, took over Britannia and declared himself Emperor, Schneizel and Princess Cornelia joined with Nunnally and the Black Knights to oppose him and his goal of world domination. Setting up an airship named the Damocles, they gathered the rest of the F.L.E.I.J.A. warheads to defeat Lelouch in a final battle. After she confronted her brother and his new knight, Suzaku, and declared herself his enemy, Nunnally asked Schneizel to allow her to hold the trigger for F.L.E.I.J.A., so that she might shoulder the burden of putting a stop to her brother's sins. When the Damocles was hit badly, however, Nunnally dropped the button (also called the key of Damocles), and fell out of her chair in order to grab it. Above all, she could not let Lelouch get it. In her desperation, she managed to open her eyes (her eyes, it had been revealed by Emperor Charles, was a Geass put upon her, and not due to the trauma of her mother's death). When Lelouch appeared before her, Nunnally challenged him by opening her eyes, asking if he would geass her as well. When she argued that his way, the way of geass, was an evil method of manipulating people, he asked her if F.L.E.I.J.A. was not also a manipulative way to force peace on people. Nunnally then revealed that she hoped to make the Damocles a symbol of hatred for the world to united against and fight for their future. Lelouch, hearing that, used the geass to force her to hand the key over. Though she resisted briefly, she ultimately handed it over to him. She was then imprisoned, along with many others who had defied him.
Shortly thereafter, Emperor Lelouch held a procession to lead certain war prisoners to the execution ground, Nunnally chief among them. She sat on the same float that held Lelouch on his throne, chained and bound. However, Zero appeared and assassinated him, much to the shock of all those watching, especially those who had known Lelouch was Zero. When his body slid down to rest by Nunnally, she realized that his death was the plan all along, that Lelouch had done so much wicked as emperor in order to take all the world's hatred on himself. Zero, she realized, was Suzaku, who had killed him according to Lelouch's wishes. She was devastated to learn this just as he was dying beside her, but thanks to his death, Nunnally was instated as the 100th Empress of Britannia. Working alongside the Black Knights, with Zero by her side, Nunnally began to bring peace to the world.
Nunnally the young woman is kind and loving, and cares about others a great deal. Lelouch once posed the question of why Nunnally was always smiling; his answer was that, due to her blindness, she was at everyone's mercy, left completely vulnerable to all. So it is this vulnerability that leads her to act kindly towards others, in the hopes that they'll do the same. Even with her sight restored, she still has no use of her legs, and must have the patience of others to deal with this. Because she lived so long without one of her sight, her other senses are more acute, and it has, perhaps, shaped her into an attentive listener. She's also good at reading people and sensing when they are lying to her. She may be sensitive to others' lies, especially considering how much her brother had lied to her in their final years together. However she also doesn't push others to reveal their lies; rather she lets them know her opinion and hopes they understand that she knows they are lying and will tell her the truth of their own volition.
As a ruler, Nunnally is just, and desires nothing more than to establish peace. She is sensitive to the pressures placed on the common people. Though she is soft-spoken and gentle, she can be stubborn, and will not let others walk over her simply because they think they can get away with it. If she feels something is not being done to the benefit of all involved, she will insist it be rethought until it is best for everyone, such as during a discussion of the redevelopment of the ghettos of Tokyo. Her councilors tried to conceal the burdens it placed on the Japanese, but Nunnally sensed they were hiding this from her and told them to find another way that would not do this.
Nunnally cares a great deal for her family, especially her brother. Her personal happiness would have been to live with him peacefully as they had been doing at Ashford Academy. His actions as Zero brought her sorrow, for he did it all for her sake, even though she had never wanted that. She also cares a lot for her other siblings, especially Euphemia. She is always open to making friends with others, as well.

[On the screen is a young woman with large, scared violet eyes staring directly into your soul askance into the camera.]
U-um! Hello! Pardon me, my name is Nunnally vi Britannia. I...
[She shakes her head. Her mouth thins in what is a clear expression of forced determination, her eyes close momentarily, and then she's looking back at the screen, her expression serious.]
Hello. My name is Nunnally vi Britannia, 100th Empress of Britannia. If any citizen of Britannia is here, if you are listening to this message, please contact me. I do not rightly know what can be done in this situation, but I hope, as your empress, that there is something I can do to help you in anyway as we deal with this crisis.
This also goes for anyone else who might hear this. I wish to do what I can to help. What happened...comes as a shock to all of us, but if we all stick together, I believe we can make it through all right.
If any United Federation of Nation representatives are listening, I hope we can meet soon, as many as we can find, to discuss any possible means of helping our citizens in their time of need.
Thank you.
3rd person sample: When Nunnally arrived on the S.S. Thor, she felt shattered. Understandable, no doubt, considering her planet had just been destroyed. All that work towards peace, all of those sacrifices, all of those deaths, and what good had it been? How could there be world peace without any world? She wanted to let herself fall into this way of thinking, it would be so much easier to despair at the pointlessness of it all, but with a great force of will she managed to shake those thoughts. For the moment, at least. Just keep thinking about Euphy, she told herself. What would Euphy do in this situation?
Think of the people. Not just "her" people, but everyone. They had all lost so much, but there was one thing she had not lost, and that was her duty to her citizens, nay, to the world. Though peace as she had imagined it was the last thing to think about now, the people for whom she desired the peace still needed her leadership and guidance. No matter where she was, she was still their empress, and she would remain so until they no longer needed her.
Still...though she was equal to the task, she wished for a steady hand to guide her, to support her along the way. If only Suzaku, or her sister Cornelia, or any number of welcome, and though not quite yet familiar, faces would go a long way to boost her confidence and help her smile through it all.
She took a deep breath and smiled anyway. She already knew what it was like to lose her whole world, after all. Now was not the time for her to mourn the loss of another one.
