Has my birthday been TOS'd?!

Remember the shirts I designed for loveslashangst and myself for my birthday? And that LSA bought as a birthday present to me?

Well, despite the wide range of Obama products available on CafePress, my shirts have been tagged for screening. My two innocent, celebrating my birthday and my new President, for personal use, not intended for sale shirts.

We recently learned that your CafePress.com account contains material which may not be in compliance with our policies. Specifically, designing, manufacturing, marketing and/or selling products that may infringe the rights of a third party, including, copyrights (e.g., an image of a television cartoon character), trademarks (e.g., the logo of a company), "rights in gross" (e.g., the exclusive right of the U.S. Olympic Committee to use the "Olympic Rings"), and rights of privacy and publicity (e.g., a photo of a celebrity) are prohibited.

We should also note that CafePress already happily took LSA's money. And did not indicate in their email whether or not the two shirts we already ordered are still being produced for us or not.

So I wrote and asked them specifically.

To Whom It May Concern:

Given the large quantity of Obama shirts already available on CafePress, I was unaware there would be any problem with the two shirts I designed. Let me assure you that I had no intention of selling the shirts I made for personal gain. My only purpose was to make a pair of shirts for my friend and myself to wear to my birthday celebration on January 20 (Inauguration Day, and we're both very excited about President Obama being sworn in).

Can you tell me if the two shirts (one of each design) that we ordered and paid for are still being shipped?! I'll be happy to delete the two shirts off of CafePress once we receive what we ordered (and I'm hoping they will arrive before my 30th birthday on the 20th!).

Sincerely,
{my real name}
({LSA's real name} is my friend and she paid for the shirts as a birthday present for me, hence her name being on my account.)

Updates as events warrant.

UPDATE #1: At 2am, Saturday, January 10, CafePress emailed to say that our order had shipped. So I guess they printed the shirts anyway. Whew!

wtf, birthday, loveslashangst
