So last night I finally got a chance to see Stardust! I was a little nervous before seeing it because I'm not a huge fan of Claire Danes (she tends to really bug me - I think its the whole chin wibble thing she does) but I loved it!
So favorite things:
Charlie Cox! My newest crush! He is absolutely adorable and a terrific actor as well. I can't wait to see more of him in the future.
Robert DeNiro Loved the gay pirate thing. He was hilarious and looked like he was having so much fun with the part as well.
Michelle Pfeiffer Can I say, first of all, that I hope I look as good as she does when I'm in my fifties? She is a fabulous villain, just completely chews the scenery.
Rick Gervais So funny! As a fan of the Office I have a special place in my heart for Rick.
In general I loved the entire movie, the plot, the acting (I could even stand Claire Danes), the humor - it was perfect. Usually I find that the summer is a perfect wasteland for movies, but I have really enjoyed the ones I've seen: The Waitress (RIP Adrian Shelly), Harry Potter, Bourne Ultimatum, Simpsons. The only movie that really disappointed was Shrek 3. It had none of the fun of the other two. I also have to say that I wasn't terribly fond of Becoming Jane. The acting was good, the cinematography was excellent, but the story felt forced.
Anyway, now I'm looking forward to my fall and winter movies, here is my list so far:
Elizabeth: The Golden Age Cate Blanchette is one of my favorite actresses. Her, Kate Winslet, Emma Thompson, and Judi Dench top my list as just the most amazing women in film today. I will go see anything they are in.
Atonement James McAvoy YAY! He was fabulous in The Last King of Scotland and I wanted to see Starter for 10 but it was in and out of the theater near me before I had a chance.
No Country for Old Men I'm a huge fan of the Coen Brothers. I loved Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou, and Intolerable Crulety. I'm really excited to see this
The Golden Compass The previews for this look amazing and I've heard so many good things about the series. Of course before I see this I have to read the book, so I've got that on my reading list.
Darjeeling Limited Ok, so I'm catching up with my Wes Anderson. I've only seen Rushmore so far, but I've got Life Aquatic and Royal Tennenbaums on my Netflix list. I loved Rushmore, but the real reason I'm looking forward to this is Adrian Brody. I was astounded by him in The Pianist and I really enjoyed his performance in King Kong. I know he's not typically attractive but there is something about him that just makes me melt.
If any of you have some suggestions of things I should look out for, please drop it in the comments.
